FA Cup Semi-final results

Claymore Athletic FC 3 Bassett Allsorts 0
San Dimas High School 5 Mega Buck Bandits 3

The FA Cup semis both went to form with Claymore and San Dimas winning through and setting up a repeat of the 2005 Final. (Although Clive will hope for a different result as I triumphed 6-1 that day). Ben and Dave will look to build on this Cup run with improved league performances over the remaining weeks.

Claymore had the easier passage with the Allsorts appearing to freeze on the big day and offering little attacking threat . Tom Cleverley tapped Clive's team in front on 25 minutes after a flowing team move but it took until 12 minutes from time for the lead to be doubled. David Luiz powered an unstoppable header past Steve Harper and Clive's Wembley trip was confirmed with a Branislav Ivanovic clean sheet.

San Dimas had far more difficulty getting into their first final since that 2005 victory. The Mega Bucks ripped through my defence in the first 45 minutes with Charlie Adam striking from the spot and with a 25-yard free-kick in a five-minute spell around the half hour mark. It was 3-0 shortly afterwards when Matt Jarvis thumped a shot in off a post. Paul Scharner left the fray at the break with a clean sheet in the bag and it was his substitute, Maynor Figueroa who turned the game late on. The High School had reduced the deficit to 3-2 on 58 minutes when Peter Odemwingie took advantage of a horrendous Mega Bucks mix-up. John Mensah saw red for Dave on 82 minutes for a professional foul and now the Bucks were in meltdown. Figueroa smashed home from 25 yards in injury time and then he and Fabio added clean sheets to complete the fightback.

The final is set for the weekend of 30 April. The teams meet in the league three weeks before. Some psychological points to be made there I suspect.

Fred West opened the season with a thumping win over the Mega Bucks but the tables were emphatically turned this week. Dave dragged a huge performance from his struggling side to inflict only Fred's second league defeat of the season. Matt Jarvis struck early then Obafemi Martins tapped in very late while Dave's defence must take some plaudits for keeping Fred scoreless for the first time since November. The only relief for the leaders was that their closest challengers slipped up too. The Muppets were emphatically beaten by a Claymore side hitting four for the third time in a month. Clive's team struck twice in a minute through Rooney's low shot and Zigic's close range header but Danny Sturridge was on target for Ryan before half-time to reduce the deficit. Clive's team stood firm after the break with new signing David Luiz restoring the two-goal advantage and a clean from his keper then finishing the job.

Boston Rock emerged from their recent malaise with a 4-2 win over Final Fantasy. Kevin Nolan opened the scoring and has now notched ten from midfield this season but Ceri levelled before the break thanks to Demba Ba's flying header. Carlton Cole struck for the Fantasy on 90 minutes but by then Frank Lampard and Glen Johnson had done enough to get Sheriff back into second on goal difference. The CFJs head three teams on 40 points after a draw with the Allsorts. Ben struck first through Jamie O'Hara but Chris clinched a point thanks to a Wayne Hennessey clean.

Trusted beat the Aardvarks 2-1 with two goals from no - not Edin Dzeko, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Ady's team would have jumped Beef's with a win but their recent recovery takes a bit of a knock. The Jekyll and Hyde Artisans were back to Jekyll this week coming from behind twice to beat the Parrots. Mario Balotelli was on target in the first half, Ashley Young struck twice in the second.

The rise of the Phoenix continued with a 3-2 win over Nil Satis. Robin van Persie struck again but was injured in the process so Brian will need more from Jermaine Beckford who doubled his tally for the season this week. Paul's slumping team have now hit the bottom having lost nine of their last ten matches. It's hard to believe they were top after week 19 last season. San Dimas got back to winning ways to nick eighth place, a Sylvin Distin clean the only score in my game again
