We're halfway through the season and after eight weeks at the top the Aardvarks are ousted. The Gardeners resume top spot after a crushing win over Ady's team. Eden Hazard broke the deadlock just before the break then a 10-minute Adam Lallana double at the start of the second half took the game away from the Aardvarks before the cleans mounted up. Claymore are third but missed the chance to take over the lead with a defeat to San Dimas. David Silva on 23 minutes and Danny Welbeck on 44 given too much room in the Claymore box to deliver the points to me.

Athletico Phoenix are now only two points off the top after edging out Mega Bucks 1-0. Santi Cazorla's first half spot-kick completing an excellent month for Brian. After a rotten start to the season Trusted are somehow just six points behind. Beef's team went behind to Kevin Mirallas' goal six minutes from time for Cheese Makers but cleans from Ryan Shawcross and Phil Jones turned the game Beef's way.

The Parrots bounced back from Charity Shield disappointment to beat FCK2 2-0. Final scorers Papiss Cisse and Erik Pieters on target again for Dean. The CFJs overcame Final Fantasy thanks to a host of cleans. Ayoze Perez gave Ceri the lead but Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised a minute later. There were no further scores until Chris rolled out the clean sheets.

The Artisans win! A first league victory for Ben since week eight. They had trailed to Nil Satis too. Jonjo Shelvey glanced a corner into his own net wit 20 minutes left but Asmir Begovic and Billy Jones cleans ended Ben's dreadful run. The Muppets win! After eight straight defeats in all competitions and with no win in the league since October Ryan finally bagged a victory. Sadio Mane put Ryan ahead early but Julian must have got excited when Mame Diouf* scored twice in 15 second half minutes. It wasn't to be for YTFIB as Ciaran Clark and Mamadou Sakho notched the winning Muppets cleans.

*Diouf has a third of all Julian's counters this season.

Charity Shield Final report

Congratulations to Athletico Phoenix who won the Trophy for a second time in a seven-goal thriller against the Parrots.

Athletico Phoenix 4
Green sp9, van Persie 53, Costa 62, Rosicky 65

The Dead Parrots 3

Cisse 87p, K.Toure [c], Pieters [c]

(one cancelled clean)

At Old Trafford - Att: 75, 318

Teams:

Athletico - Green; Vertonghen, Zabaleta, Mertersacker, Williams; Rosicky, Downing, Lampard, Cazorla; van Persie, Costa.     Subs: Lindegaard; Jenkinson; Morrison; Vardy

Parrots - Hart; Debuchy, Pieters, McNair, K.Toure; Routledge, Navas, Barry, Jedinak; Lampert, Cisse.        Subs: Caballero; Hutton; Elmohamady; Drogba

Two of the league's in-form teams delivered a cracking first final of the season. Athletico had won four straight games scoring 15 and only conceding one in the process, the Parrots had won five and drawn two of their last seven games.

It wasn't long before we had our first action. A clumsy lunge in the area led to a Parrots spot-kick but Rob Green guessed right (or left depending on how you were looking) to make the save and get the first counter of the game. We were level at the break though as Kolo Toure departed the fray with a clean stuffed in his back pocket.

Brian's team took control after the break with three goals in 13 minutes. Robin van Persie perfectly timed his run away from the Parrots defence to nod his team ahead, Diego Costa twisted and turned and struck low into the bottom corner and Tomas Rosicky swept in from inside the area. That should have been that but the Parrots were thrown a lifeline with a penalty three minutes from time. Papiss Cisse converted and Erik Pieters followed up with a clean for Dean to give Brian some late jitters. The Phoenix held on and will take a very cold open top bus ride to Kingham with the trophy. Cancer Research UK will benefit from the league's £50 donation.

Silva Service - David Silva's two goals gave San Dimas the win over the Aardvarks despite a Romelu Lukaku og.

Kolared! - But Ady stays top as Claymore are held by the Artisans. Clive needing an Alex Kolarov clean after Martin Skrtel's late, late header for Ben looked to have won it.

Phoenix Rising - And Fred is beaten as well. Stewart Downing's goal and an Ashley Williams clean put Brian's team in the title hunt.

Terry's All Gold - John Terry's early goal from a set-piece set up Kevin for a win over Nil Satis and Harry Kane added to his tally to seal the win before the break.

L of a result - Goals from Lescott and Lamela plus a clean from Cahill saw Beef to a 3-0 win over the Muppets and reach a season high sixth in the table.

Toure De Force - It's no wonder they sing about him at the darts! Yaya powered in the only goal in the game to get Ceri going in the right direction and end Julian's two game unbeaten run.

Austin Powers - £16m for Charlie Austin not looking so silly now! His hat-trick set up the win for Dave over Chris. Fraser Forster hasn't been a bad buy either.

Ki, but forgot to lock the back door - The Parrots and Cheese Makers played out a draw. Ki Sung-Yeung deflecting Matthew into the lead after a quarter hour but Wes Brown got the clean for Dean.

Routine wins for the top three this week. The Aardvarks did leave it late to get their win over the Artisans, three clean sheets delivered the points to Ady after Christian Eriksen's late goal for Ben equalised a rare Craig Gardner strike. It was easier for Claymore who cruised to a 5-0 win over the previously in-form FCK2. Clive might have lost Sergio Aguero to injury but he has got Olivier Giroud back from injury and the Frenchman rewarded his manager with a brace. Wayne Rooney and Ross Barkley also added goals from range.

Early goals in either half set up Fred for a win over Mega Bucks. Eden Hazard nodded the Gardeners in front on seven minutes and a cool Wilfried Bony strike three minutes into the second half doubled the lead before Eliaquim Mangala killed Dave off with a clean. Athletico went one better than Claymore with a 6-0 win over San Dimas. Stewart Downing started the goal rush on 29 minutes, Frank Lampard added a second before the break then a Santi Cazorla double bookended strikes from Robin van Persie and Diego Costa to complete the rout.

YTFIB are now unbeaten in two games after holding the CFJs to a draw. Peter Crouch opened the scoring for Julian for the second week in a row but Bacary Sagna got Chris's levelling clean. The Parrots are up to seventh after edging out the Muppets 1-0. Joe Hart's clean the only action of note in this one.

Trusted came from behind to see off injury hit Final Fantasy 3-1. Ayoze Perez got the only goal of the game for Ceri but Beef had three cleans, David De Gea, Gary Cahill and Joleon Lescott providing them to get the points. A game of two halves saw Nil Satis draw with Cheese Makers. Matthew was two up at the interval thanks to Juan Mata's (offside) header and Kevin mirallas but Paul hit back thanks to Steven Nailsmith's goal and a clean from Filipe Luis.

Athletico Phoenix are through to their third Charity Shield final

Cheese Makers   2   v  2  The Dead Parrots
FCK2   1  v  2   Athletico Phoenix

Athletico Phoenix are through to their third Charity Shield final following a 2-1 win at FCK2. Kevin Nolan scored from close range ten minutes before the break but Pablo Zabaleta dinked over the keeper ten minutes after half time to square things up. It was another of Brian's defenders, Big Funky German Per Mertersacker, who got the winning clean.

The other semi goes to a reply after the Parrots came from behind twice to draw with Cheese Makers. Maroune Fellaini powered a header home to open the scoring but a Papiss Cisse volley equalised early in the second half. Juan Mata restored Matthew's lead on the hour as his free-kick drifted in but Wayne Routledge forced a replay with a calm finish seven minutes from the end.

Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy semi-final results

Ben has a chance to get his name on the PCMT for a second time but he'll need to wait to learn his opponents.

San Dimas High School   1  v  1    Mega Buck Bandits
The Fabulous Artisans   3   v  0    Real Muppets

The Artisans have been edging back into form in recent weeks and it all clicked in this one. Christian Benteke robbed a Muppets defender and raced forward to place the Artisans ahead on 32 minutes, Sone Aluko added a second at the start of the second half and with 17 minutes left Loic Remy held of Ryan's defenders to slide in the third.

San Dimas and Mega Bucks will try again on the weekend after a 1-1 draw. Much-maligned keeper Simon Mignolet scored an own goal with his face midway through the first half to put Dave ahead but Romelu Lukaku got me back on level terms 12 minutes later, smashing in from six yards. And that's where the scoring ended.

Ady picked up his ninth win of the season in a 2-1 win over Cheese Makers. Seven of those wins have been by a single goal, like this one. Two Aardvark cleans turning over Kevin Mirallas' brilliant strike. Clive is keeping pace with the Aardvarks after a big win over the Muppets. Goals from defenders Aaron Cresswell and Gael Clichy a welcome rarity for the Claymore boss.

Fred did lose ground following a 1-1 draw with the Artisans. Wilfried Bony scored with a sharp turn and shot on 15 minutes but Christian Eriksen's smart finish six minutes later meant this finished level. Final Fantasy stay fourth but were held by Nil Satis. Yaya Toure is finally running into form but his goal was cancelled out by Eric Die's clean.

My team are fifth after beating PCMT semi-final opponents Mega Bucks 2-1. For the second week running I had some help with an own goal and a Simon Mignolet clean gave me the win after Charlie Austin's equaliser for Dave. Another game where defenders had a say was in FCK2s win at the Phoenix. Chris Smalling and Glen Johnson getting close range goals on the way to a 4-1 win for Kevin. They'll meet again in the Charity Shield semis.

The CFJs missed a chance to close the gap going down 2-1 to the Parrots. Kolo Toure got Dean's winning clean after this one had turned round 1-1 at the break. The table looks a bit happier for Trusted after three clean sheets gave Beef all the points against YTFIB. Six points cover fourth to 14th.

We're a third of the way through the season and it's a case of never mind the goals, feel the points advantage.

Ady stretched his lead at the top to four points after edging out the Muppets by the single goal. Stevan Jovetic swept in from close range on 19 minutes and Ryan couldn't respond. The Aardvarks are only the sixth highest scorer in the league but the defence is getting the job done. The Muppets have slumped after a good start and look like they need Daniel Sturridge back before they get moving in the right direction.

Claymore and Final Fantasy shared four goals and are second and fourth respectively. Ceri led twice, through Yaya Toure and Moussa Sissoko, but Clive hit back - first through a rare Leon Osman goal and then, five minutes from time, with a Wayne Rooney breakaway. Both managers should be content with the first part of the season.

Fred also drew, 3-3 with FCK2. Wilfried Bony opened the scoring for Fred but four minutes later his team was behind as Danny Kings converted two tap-ins in two minutes. Eden Hazard levelled matters on 25 minutes but Harry Kane had Kevin in front again on the hour. It needed a Richie De Laet clean to earn the Gardeners a point. Fred is the 'counters' leader at this early(ish) stage while no team has lost fewer games than FCK2. Kevin's team's failure to convert draws into wins are costing them.

Athletico missed a chance to close in by falling to the Cheese Makers. A Jake Livermore long ranger put Matthew ahead early but a calm chest and volley from Diego Costa had Brian level three minutes later. The only other scores were Cheese cleans from Tim Krul and Brede Hangeland. Diego Costa has been a brilliant signing for Brian but he needs the rest of the team to step up. Matthew's team look to have finally got going.

The CFJs are sixth following a 1-1 draw with Nil Satis. Nathan Clyne's goal ten minutes from time came close to giving Paul all the points but Daryl Janmaat's clean was the equaliser for Chris. The CFJs have done well enough up front through Sanchez and Pelle but the defence isn't matching them. Paul will be happy with his start after recent struggles at the foot of the table.

Biggest win of the week was by San Dimas. My team were two up at the break - Romelu Lukaku (slightly offside) and a Jon Walters diving header with the goals. Ben's hope of a comeback ended by a bizarre seated own goal by Kieran Gibbs. My team are looking too inconsistent to mount a charge but the Artisans 'counters' have dried up and Ben's team are one off the bottom.

Mega Bucks are on a good run and nearly saw off Trusted this week. Gaby Agbonlahor's goal only cancelled out by a Gary Cahill clean for Beef. Dave will be pleased with his position and a PCMT semi-final, Beef will be wondering what on earth has happened to the champions.

The battle of the bottom two went the way of the Dead Parrots. Ricky Lambert struck inside 90 seconds and Dean finished the game with a Mike Williamson clean. The Parrots are having their usual tribulations in the bottom reaches of the league but Julian's team seem in danger of breaking the wrong sort of records.

The top three had daylight for a week but it's all come back together. The Aardvarks stay top but were dealt a heavy defeat by Final Fantasy. Ayoze Perez continued his recent spell of good form with the opener while Seb Larsson fired in a free-kick mid-way through the second half on the way to Ceri's 3-0 win. Claymore also lost by a three goal margin, 5-2 to the CFJs. Sergio Aguero (with the use of a hand in the build-up) gave Clive the lead but when the Argentine got his second it was to narrow the gap to 3-2. Fabricio Coloccini, Alexis Sanchez and Gylfi Sigurdsson with Chris's goals and cleans from Jason Shackell and Coloccini keep them in striking distance.

Third-place Fred were taking a heavier defeat to Cheese Makers. All the action came in the last quarter of the game. Juan Mata rifled in to give Matthew the lead. Shane Long doubled it before Nacer Chadli smashed home from an acute angle to reduce the deficit. Long added his second wuth ten minites left and the Cheesers even survived Kyle Naughton's late sending-off to add two more cleans. Athletico are on the heels of the top three after beating the Muppets. Diego Costa was on target again for Brian midway through the second period and Ryan's hopes of a comeback were ended when Martin De Michelis glanced into his own net with 14 minutes left.

FCK2 are seventh after a goalless draw with San Dimas. Nothing else to say on that one. Moving swiftly on, Mega Bucks recent good form continued and Dave's team round out the top half after beating the Artisans. Charlie Austin had two efforts ruled out before he opened the scoring on 21 minutes and it took Ben until the 76th to equalise through a Leighton Baines penalty. Aly Cissokho's clean gave Dave the last word and the three points.

Nil Satis have had no trouble scoring this season but have left their back-gate unbolted on far too many occasions. This week against YTFIB Paul's team turned the key and pulled the chain across as they ran out 4-0 winners over Julian's team. Bojan Krkic and Bafetimbi Gomis opened their WSFFL accounts in the win. Beleaguered Trusted finally picked up another win, Gary Cahill's close range finish proving enough to edge out the Dead Parrots.

Bit of daylight for the top three after this week's matches. The Aardvarks found themselves two down to the CFJs (both goals from Alexis Sanchez) but Ady's defence is really firing and five clean sheets keep him two points clear. Fred still second but only on goals scored after victory over the Muppets. An unlucky own goal from Esteban Cambiasso just after the break set Fred on his way and Eden Hazard and Nacer Chadli added goals from midfield later on.

Claymore had a fright against YTFIB but came through to win and stay third. Mame Diouf put Julian ahead but Sergio Aguero slammed in seven minutes later and recent signing Sebastien Pocognoli plus old stager Tim Howard secured the points. The Phoenix have leapt to third after beating Final Fantasy. Brian and Ceri exchanged goals in the 73rd, Stewart Downing and Ayoze Perez with the goals, but Athletico could count on cleans from Per Mertersacker and Ashley Williams to make the difference.

FCK2 were another top half loser this week, 3-1 to the improving Artisans. Enner Valencia headed Ben in front but Harry Kane's first goal, a deflected last minute free-kick, looked to have grabbed a point until Kieran Gibbs and Federico Fernandez chipped in with cleans. San Dimas just edged out the struggling Cheese Makers thanks to a dodge and a clean from Neil Taylor.

Mega Bucks good run goes on. Like with Fred it took an own goal to break the deadlock. The Parrots' Wes Brown blundered in at his near post ten minutes into the second half and a clever Charlie Austin flick seven minutes later finished matters. Nil Satis leapfrogged Trusted with a 2-0 win over those opponents. Oscar getting Paul's goal and Seamus Coleman added a clean. What has happened to the Champions?
