Fred is our new leader and his 'counters' column suggests he might be tough to stop. YTFIB took a two goal lead through Peter Crouch and a splendid headed own goal from Fred's big money defender Eliaquim Mangala. Craig Dawson and Nacer Chadli got the game level and cleans from Dawson, Courtois and Azpilicueta sealed the win. The Aardvarks are second and going about their business quietly. That's if you can call an injury time screamer of a winner by Phil Jagielka quiet. The Parrots found themselves on the wrong end of that one.

FCK2 are third after knocking the league leaders off their perch for the second week running. The Muppets were the victims this week, Diafra Sakho on target again for Kevin with Ben Foster and John Terry getting the cleans to round out a 3-0 win. Claymore are up to fourth after winning their second 'bluenose derby' of the season against Nil Satis. 4-0 was the margin in the PCMT, this time it was 5-1. Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero scored for Claymore and Oscar replied for Paul all in the first seven minutes. It quietened down after Rooney saw red but Clive's three cleans got the job done.

Final Fantasy dropped to sixth after a third straight league defeat. The Artisans gaining their first three points of the campaign thanks to a Patrick van Aanholt clean. Ceri has struggled since winning August MOTM. Perhaps this month's award will break the jinx! The CFJs are next after a comfortable win over San Dimas. Graziano Pelle's acrobatic finish broke the deadlock midway through the second half and Willian soon walked in other. San Dimas sub Saido Berahino kept nudging me in the ribs but didn't get on and Chris's team ran out 4-0 winners.

Trusted are into the top half after finally looking like champions this season. The game against Athletico to'ed and fro'ed and was tied at 3-3 with three minutes left before Trusted landed three cleans to make this look more one-sided than it probably was. Mega Bucks are bottom but have a point. Charlie Austin's excellent control and volley looked set to deliver all three until Danny Simpson came off the bench to get Cheese Makers' equalising clean.

The Muppets are back on top after this week's games. Angel di Maria opened the scoring with a cute chip (he looks a £14m bargain!) and Raheem Sterling fired home a rocket on the way to the win over Cheese Makers. Fred is up to second after a 3-0 stroll over reigning champions Trusted. On the subject of bargains what about Leonardo Ulloa at £1m? He scored two more to take his total to five this season.

The Aardvarks are third after edging out Nil Satis. Ander Herrera scored Ady's winner for the second week running with Paul slumping to a fourth successive defeat despite Nikica Jelavic's excellent scissor-kick. Final Fantasy's first defeat drops Ceri to fourth. FCK2 scored early through Diafra Sakho and Steven Caulker added a second before the break. Kevin is fifth and the last unbeaten team in the league.

The Dead Parrots became the first team to stop Diego Costa but still fell to the Phoenix. Papiss Cisse equalised twice for Dean but Per Mertersacker got Brian's deciding clean. San Dimas were another team to be pegged back twice and still prevail. YTFIB levelled Lukaku and Welbeck goals through Diouf and Crouch but Yannick Bolasie's first WSFFL goal gave me the win.

Narrow losers for the fourth straight league game were Mega Bucks, this time 1-0 to Claymore. Aly Cissokho steered into his own net to give Clive the points, Dave still pointless. Mega Bucks not bottom though. The Artisans prop the league up after defeat to the CFJs. Leighton Baines late penalty equalised Mesut Ozil's first half goal and seemed set to share the points but Santiago Vergini and Jason Shackell got the cleans to deliver Chris' first win.

Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy 1st round results

The holders made life difficult for themselves but see off Athletico by the odd goal in seven.

Athletico Phoenix 3 v 4 The Cow-Faced Juniors
FCK2 1 v 5 Real Muppets
Final Fantasy XI 0 v 1 Aardvark Abacus
Mega Buck Bandits 4 v 3 Fred West Landscape Gardening XI
Nil Satis Nisi Optimum 0 v 4 Claymore Athletic FC
The Dead Parrots 0 v 1 San Dimas High School
The Fabulous Artisans 2 v 0 Cheese Makers (following 4-4 and 1-1 draws)
YTFIB 0 v 1 Trusted By Millions

Chris's hold on the trophy was looking pretty tenuous after 67 minutes when Diego Costa completed his hat-trick and put the Phoenix 3-0 up. The CFJs fought back to grab the win but I don't suppose anyone expected Julian Speroni to be the hero with a saved penalty and a clean.

Cheese Makers were another team to find themselves 3-0 down and live to fight another day. The Fabulous Artisans looked to have picked up their first win of the season, even after Matthew had brought it back to 3-2, when Loic Remy extended the lead with nine minutes to go. Cleans from Jose Fonte and Ben Mee means this one goes back to the Stade de Fromage this weekend.

Two big wins this week. The Muppets 5-1 over FCK2, an early John Terry own goal set Kevin off on the wrong foot and he never recovered. Claymore were much like their old selves and were emphatic 4-0 winners of the 'Bluenose Derby', Morgan Schneiderlin curled in a beauty in the last minute to end any hope of a Nil Satis comeback.

A narrow win that was big in meaning came from the Mega Bucks. Dave's team are into the quarters after 11 straight failed attempts. September signing Gabby Agbonlahor had scored early on debut but Fred looked safe at 3-1 up until three Mega Bucks cleans made history.

Three 1-0 wins to report too. The Aardvarks inflicted Ceri's first defeat of the season thanks to Ander Herrera's goal, Beef needed new signing Abel Hernandez's header to beat YTFIB while a goal after two minutes from Romelu Lukaku was the difference between San Dimas and the Parrots.

Replay

After a 1-1 draw in the second game the Artisans made it through in the second replay thanks to cleans from Federico Fernandez and Patrick van Aanholt.
