Statement of intent or what? Fred hosted Claymore with Clive’s team knowing that a victory could haul them within five points of their opponents. It didn’t quite work out like that and now the gap is 11. Eden Hazard bossed this one, opening the scoring on 19 minutes and generally running the show. It was respectable at the break as Emre Can and Sergio Aguero had scored for their respective teams but the Fred landslide started in the second half. Islam Slimani powered in a close range header on 55 minutes and Hazard added his second a minute later. Jermain Defoe added a penalty with sixteen minutes left to make it 5-1 and two cleans really laid down a marker. Clive is now in the bottom four. (Looks for the shocked emoji.)

But let’s not forget that Fred only leads on goal difference. The Muppets stay level on points after beating FCK2 2-1. Sadio Mane got both for Ryan, the first a clever angled glancing header, while Kevin at least has a goal from the returning Harry Kane to cheer him. The Phoenix and Trusted both lost ground with draws. The Phoenix drew 1-1 with San Dimas. Diego Costa slammed home just before the break but Matt Phillips got my equaliser after latching on to a slack backpass. Trusted had a goalless draw with The Wateringhole Society. Not much else to say about that one.
Wheel Madrid also slipped back after a surprise defeat to YTFIB. Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke his drought to score twice for Julian before David Luiz could reply with a clean for Paul. Mega Buck Bandits are up to sixth! Dave doesn’t often beat Ady but he had this wrapped up by the half hour mark. Charlie Austin scored a penalty and Phillipe Coutinho added a second from 20 yards to send the Okus-based team home happy.
Nil Satis are in the top half after a thumping win against the CFJs. Paul Pogba half-volleyed in to get things moving for Paul and Marcos Alonso and Pedro were also on target before Chris could find a reply. A clever finish from Bojan made it 4-1 before a couple of cleans wrapped it up. The Artisans saved their best for the second half to down Cheese Makers 3-0. Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke from the spot , and Gio Wijnaldum in injury time gave Ben a win he;ll enjoy in a season that has’t gone to plan so far.
