Fred extended his lead to seven points after a comfortable win over second-placed San Dimas. An early Dele Alli flick header for Fred was soon cancelled out by David Silva but two goals from Leroy Sane and yet another from Mo Salah (a near post finish from a cutback this time rather than his trademark outpacing the defence) sees the Gardeners with the biggest lead at this stage of the season since 2004. My team hold on to second on goal difference but there’s a new name in third - The Wateringhole Society. Kiran’s improving outfit edged Mega Bucks 3-2, Aaron Mooy hitting two from range and Andre Schurrle finishing off a brilliant cross from the left. Dave twice cut the deficit but couldn’t grab a point and is fifth in the table.
Nil Satis fall to fourth after a big loss to the Artisans. In a week of players scoring twice Stuart Armstrong did the same for Ben, one after 18 minutes and one eight minutes after the break. Roberto Firmino nodded in with two minutes left to ease the nerves and Kyle Walker’s clean delivered Ben’s second win of the league campaign. The gap at the bottom is now down to three. Cheese Makers emerged from a quieter period to see off YTFIB 2-0. The evergreen Glenn Murray got across his marker to head in a corner after 15 minutes and Andrew Robertson’s clean settled the game for Matthew.

Sam Vokes headed over an out-of-position keeper to put Clive ahead five minutes before the break but the game was level on 54 minutes after Son Heung-Min led the Swordsmen’s defence a merry dance before slotting in. Clive’s winner came with five minutes left, a towering header from substitute Olivier Giroud. Markian have a top half spot after a win at the Muppets. Harry Kane’s long-range effort evaded the unsighted Muppets keeper after 16 minutes but Ryan’s team were level when Raheem Sterling arrived at the far post to tap in just three minutes later. The winner for Markian came just before the hour. Gylfi Sigurdsson slotting into an empty(ish) net after the Muppets keeper turned a save into his path.

A first-half brace of good, old-fashioned centre-forward goals from Salomon Rondon was followed by a more controversial breakaway effort from Mo Salah. Lloris and Azpilicueta added cleans after a quiet second period. San Dimas and the CFJs fought out a 2-2 draw that leaves my team second. David Silva and Callum Paterson are in good runs of scoring form and they’d both notched to put me two up by the break. The CFJs owned the second half and levelled through Felipe Anderson (three in two games for him) and a clean from Ben Davies.
Nil Satis were beaten by the inconsistent Trusted but stay third. A lovely cushioned volley from Xherdan Shaqiri put Beef ahead on 53 minutes but Paul thought he’s grabbed a share of the points when Henrik Mkhitaryan’s cross evaded everyone and found the corner with four minutes left. Ben Mee got Trusted’s winning clean and only their third league win. The Wateringhole Society are up to a heady fourth after seeing off Cheese Makers 3-0 at Le Stade. Juan Foyth broke the deadlock on 66 minutes, being quickest to react from a block. Sol Bamba scored against his old club in the last minute and Foyth added a clean to send Kiran home with the points.
Mega Bucks and the Aardvarks are fifth and sixth after playing out a 1-1 draw. Ady scored early, Lewis Dunk being allowed too much room at the far post - Dave scored late, Jose Holebas smacking in with the aid of a deflection. Wheel Madrid are back in the top half after edging the Nationwide derby against Markian. The most notable event in this hard-fought match was Jorginho’s ‘reducer’ on Gylfi Sigurdsson - he was lucky to getaway with a yellow card - the game was won by David Luiz’s clean for Paul W.
The Muppets round off the top half but suffered a defeat to Claymore. Sergio Aguero put Clive ahead three minutes after the break and the only other score was Jonny Evans’ clean to make it 2-0. YTFIB leapfrogged the Phoenix after a 2-0 win at those opponents. The game was heading for a goalless draw until Ilkay Gundogan finished off a stunning 44-pass team move with four minutes left to put Julian ahead and Charlie Taylor finished off the win with a clean.

Fred’s late show against Trusted means he ends week nine with a two-point lead. Four goals in five first-half minutes lit up the game. Richarlison and Erik Lamela put Beef two up but an unlucky own goal from Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Lucas Moura’s free header wiped out that advantage almost straight away. Trusted were back in front on 77 minutes, Richarlison rounding the keeper, but Leroy Sane courtesy of a slight deflection in injury time and then a Paul Dummett clean gave Fred the win. San Dimas stay second after twice surrendering the lead to YTFIB. David Silva’s early half-volley for me was cancelled out by James Milner (against his former club.) Pedro timed his run to convert a cross with 20 minutes to go but Julian’s team refused to roll over and grabbed a point thanks to a clean from Ricardo Pereira.
Nil Satis stay third but fell 3-2 to Markian. Danny Ings scored a penalty on the half hour to put Markian ahead but eight minutes into the second half Paul’s team had turned it round. Seamus Coleman lashed in a daisy-cutter from the edge of the area and Andros Townsend had plenty of room to drill in shortly after. Harry Kane levelled the game and DeAndre Yedlin’s clean proved to be the winner. Mega Bucks are fourth after a 2-2 draw with Claymore. Dave had a helping hand from Clive’s team on six minutes when Wesley Hoedt leashed into his own goal when trying to clear. Sergio Aguero soon had Clive back on terms but the Bandits were in front again on 68 minutes when Ruben Neves converted a penalty. Craig Cathcart’s clean brought Claymore a point.

Marko Arnautovic put Brian ahead on 10 minutes after robbing a defender and sliding home and Kiran had to wait until 11 minutes from time for an equaliser, Raul Jimenez scoring from the spot. There was still time for TWS to win it - Marcus Rashford taking his time six yards out to shoot under the keeper deep into injury time. It was a more comfortable win for the Aardvarks over Cheese Makers. Lewis Dunk headed Ady in front on 33 minutes, Jamaal Lascelles doubled the lead with a half-time clean and Alezandre Lacazette finished matters on 82 minutes.

Callum Wilson finished off a splendid team move to put Paul ahead but Ryan’s star man scored at the second attempt just before the break then shot through the keeper’s legs on 67 minutes to claim the win. The CFJs beat the Artisans 4-2 in the Cup last week, it was 4-1 in the league game. There were two goals apiece from Alvaro Morata and Filipe Anderson for Chris and Co before Ben’s late consolation response from Chicarito.
