Fred and Ady keep ploughing on at the top. The leaders saw off last year’s champions the CFJs 3-1. Salomon Rondon opened the scoring on 66 minutes, hooking in a dropping ball, the CFJs levelled three minutes from time when Fernando Llorente, who’d already missed a couple of sitters, headed in but cleans from Zouma and Bennett saw the Gardeners home. The Aardvarks won by the same score at the Muppets. Ryan’s team took a very early lead through Sadio Mane and it was ten minutes before the end when Ady levelled through Son-Heung Min. A driving run and shot from Alexandre Lacazette put Ady’s team in front and Jordan Pickford’s excellent performance was rewarded with a clean to make it 3-1.
It was a 4-1 win for the Wateringhole Society who are still hanging on to the coat-tails of the top two. The action was all in the last ten minutes in Kiran’s win over Paul W. Matt Ritchie struck a penalty for Wheels but Raul Jimenez replied straight away and dinked over the keeper six minutes later to put the mighty society ahead. Kiran finished things off with cleans from Ake and Keane. Athletico are up to fourth after dismissing the Artisans 4-0, the same score as week 3 when Ben was going through his lean period. All the action here was in the last 15 minutes. James Ward-Prowse kept his recent scoring run going, an unmarked Chris Wood converted a header and Victor Lindelof smashed in a rebound while Leighton Baines picked up a clean sheet against his former club.
Nil Satis are fifth after coming from behind against YTFIB. David Brooks has been Julian’s star of the season and he put his side ahead after 63 minutes. They couldn’t hold on to that lead though and Paul Pogba equalised with three minutes left and Patricio, Coleman and Doherty got the cleans to make it 4-1. San Dimas lost ground after a meek performance and 3-0 defeat to Claymore. Sergio Aguero put Clive’s side ahead after 24 seconds, Craig Cathcart bundled in to make it two before the break and Joe Bryan added a clean.
Markian were pretty meek too as they went down 2-0 to Mega Bucks. Wilf Zaha smashed in at the near post four minutes before half-time to give Dave the lead, P-E Aubameyang bagged a penalty to finish the scoring. Zaha saw red late on to take the shine off the win. Game of the week was the seven goal thriller between Trusted and Cheese Makers. Richarlison and Glenn Murray traded early goals and when Murray prodded in his second after 17 minutes it was 2-1 Cheese. That score lasted into the second half when Alex Mitrovic did a human battering ram impression to score twice in 16 minutes to put Beef’s team 3-2 ahead. While there were no more goals there were two more cleans - Cook and Clyne notched for the Cheese Makers to end the game 4-3 in Matthew’s favour.Wins for five of the top six.
