San Dimas High School 5 v 0 Markian United
Stanley Athletic FC 1 v 0 Mega Buck Bandits
The Cow-Faced Juniors 4 v 0 Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
The Wateringhole Society 4 v 1 Cheese Makers
YTFIB 2 v 3 Fred West Landscape Gdg XI
A third leader in as many weeks as the Wateringhole Society take over and keep their 100% record. Kiran’s team fell behind to Cheese Makers courtesy of Bryan Mbeumo’s first WSFFL goal but hit back in the second half. Neil Maupay scored a disputed penalty eight minutes after the break, Ismaila Sarr added a brace and Ruben Dias got a clean to make it 4-1. While that was happening Claymore were slipping to a defeat by the Artisans. Two goals in a minute on the half-hour, a great free-kick by Martin Odegaard and a deflected Said Benrahma shot, gave Ben the advantage, Clive was level five minutes later after Teemu Pukki and Cristiano Ronaldo replied. A great strike from Matty Cash on 66 minutes had Claymore in front but the Artisans took the points with cleans from Kyle Walker (who’d earlier had a red card overturned) and Axel Tuanzebe.
Fred are back to winning ways but left it late to win 3-2 against YTFIB. Julian led twice in this one, Allan Saint-Maximin evaded the Gardeners defence to open the scoring just before the break and a Jesse Lingard stunner made it 2-1 with a minute left after Mo Salah had equalised. Fred needed cleans from Cesar Azpilicueta and a first from Ibrahim Donate to avoid the slip-up. The CFJs breezed past Nil Satis who clearly missed the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin. An excellent Danny Welbeck headed goal five minutes after the interval broke the deadlock and then cleans from Jan Bednarek, Gabriel and a cameo by Max Kilman made it 4-0 to the Cows.
My team are fifth (which is a pleasant surprise) after a 5-0 victory over Markian. Ian was minutes from his first point of the season when Antonio Rudiger made space in the area to shoot home. Then the sky fell in on Markian with Rudiger, Emi Martinez, Joao Cancelo and Kristoffer Ajer all adding cleans. Trusted are the fifth team on nine points after beating the Aardvarks 2-1. Raphinha’s cross eluded everybody to put Beef ahead early on but David De Gea’s injury time penalty save made it 2-0 and held off Ady’s clean from Kieren Tierney. It’s David De Gea’s first penalty save since week six in 2014/15 (which was against the Aardvarks), it’s Ady's fourth straight 2-1 defeat stats fans.
Wheel Madrid head the teams on six points after beating the Muppets 3-1. Sadio Mane gave Ryan the lead just before half time but Wheels was level four minutes after the re-start with a Thiago Silva header. The evergreen Jamie Vardy put the Wheelmen ahead and the win was confirmed with a thumping Leon Bailey effort. Stanley Athletic round out the top half after getting the better of Mega Bucks 1-0. Virgil van Dijk with the only clean for Aaron in this one.
