Torres: Why I wanted out of Trusted

Fernando Torres has spoken about why he put a transfer request in to Trusted By Millions and subsequently left for a club record £50,000,000.

The Spanish striker joined Beef's club in August 2007 for £16.5m but had become frustrated at the club's failure to land trophies. The best the club managed during Torres' time with them was third in the league and two cup semi-finals.

Torres said of the 2000/01 champions: "I think they have great ambition and they are doing the right things to get back, but it will take time. I didn't have that time."

He also refuted that he had been angling for a move with a series of poor performances: "I never lost my ambition. Too many people are talking about that - that's just opinions. I was playing out of form for a month."

The Spaniard struck 49 times during his tenure at Trusted and will be looking to join a new club at Tuesday's auction. "Big money means big expectation. I'm more than ready for the challenge. I'm excited abut a new life and new era."

Ironically Torres' departure may give Beef the funds to get back to WSFFL's top table.
