FCK2 1 v 5 The Fabulous Artisans
Let's start with the holders. The CFJs made a sticky start to the season but are hitting their stride now. Chris' team knocked out the league-leading Aardvarks thanks to a superb Luis Suarez hat-trick. The Uruguayan is looking in great form after his suspension and the rest of the league are probably hoping he bites someone else. Last year's beaten finalists, San Dimas, are through to the last four too. The prolific Romelu Lukaku scoring the only goal of the game against Nil Satis from the edge of the area on 68 minutes.
Athletico Phoenix might be waking from their slumbers after seeing off Fred's challenge 5-2. Andre Schurrle poked Fred ahead just after the half-hour but Robin van Persie struck ten minutes later to level. A James Morrison penalty had Brian ahead on 66 minutes but this time the Gardeners levelled through Fernando Torres capitalising on a defensive mix-up in the last minute. It wasn't enough to earn Fred a replay though as the Phoenix had three cleans to put a gloss on the scoreline. The winners from two years ago, The Fabulous Artisans, face a replay against FCK2 after a tight goalless draw at the Goddard Stadium.
There was a bizarre start to the replay with 'keeper Asmir Begovic belting a clearance 90-odd yards into the FCK2 net after 13 seconds. Alvaro Negredo doubled the lead before the break from close range but Steven Caulker's header pulled one back for Kevin with half an hour left. Loic Remy's been one of the Artisans start this season and he swept in off a post in the last minute to give Ben some breathing space. That broke Kevin's resistance and two clean sheets followed for the Artisans to make it 5-1.
