This week's review is by way of a preview of our first cup matches this season. How are the PCMT first round ties shaping up after three games?

Cheese Makers v FCK2 - Kevin will be without the suspended John Terry after his red card but will still be strong favourites after a second win in three. Cheese are off the mark with that goalless draw at San Dimas but the Stade de Fromage faithful need something to cheer soon.

Fantasy v Muppets - A repeat of week 3's league match. A repeat Callum Wilson hat-trick probably too much to ask for but Ceri not fearing anyone at the moment. Ryan's team will have to click soon though, won't they?

Mega Bucks v Phoenix - After Dave's opening week win his team have shipped nine goals with only one in reply It would be a major shock if they could take down the high-flying, free-scoring, top of the table 100% record Phoenix side who could even afford to go behind and miss a penalty this week.

Nil Satis v Trusted - Well at least Trusted didn't lose 4-0 this week! But lose they did and score they didn't. Nil Satis lost too but it looks like Bafetimbi Gomis could win this one on his own if Beef can't get anything out of his men.

The CFJs v Claymore - Clive's 100% record has gone but he's still unbeaten and will fancy his chances against the slow-starting CFJs.

Artisans v Aardvarks - Stat of the week. The Artisans' Memphis Depay conceded possession 35 times this week. Looks like a battle of defences on paper and would be no surprise to see this go to a replay.

Wateringhole v Fred - Kiran finally off the mark in the league with his victory over Trusted and has also played well in defeat but Fred's team have been mighty impressive and Dele Alli opened his account in a big win this week and they will be favourites here.

YTFIB v San Dimas - My team are the holders and are still unbeaten but this looks like a banana skin. Julian's side have been every bit as good without the points as reward. Could be a close one.

Cheesed Off

The WSFFL have got an early edit of Cheese Makers manager Matthew column for the club programme...

"All pre-season optimism evaporated as the under-performing Claymore inflicted Cheeses second defeat in as many weeks.

Jeremy Corbyn has more chance of becoming the next prime minister than Cheese Makers have of winning any silverware this year.

It's going to be a long season for Cheese fans..."

We're a couple of weeks from learning the identity of the first WSFFL Player of the Month - let's take a look at the (very) early contenders...

Riyad Mahrez has been in super form for the Phoenix with three goals in two games but teammate Nathan Redmond can't be far down the pecking order either and must be on the verge of an England call. Claymore's players have been spreading the 'counters' around but Ross Barkley is perhaps their leading contender despite sitting out the comfortable win over Cheese Makers.

Bafetimbi Gomis has been leading the line well for Nil Satis but frankly I'd disqualify him for that celebration. Ceri's team might have been on the wrong end of a heavy defeat but Yaya Toure is probably still in the shake-up.  Romelu Lukaku can look unstoppable when he's in the mood as The Wateringhole Society found out this week but needs to do it more regularly. Andre Ayew got another goal in a losing effort and looked a right handful for Kiran's team so is not without a chance.

Defenders don't always get the credit they deserve so Eliaquim Mangala (Fred), Joe Gomez (YTFIB), Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling (FCK2), Nathaniel Clyne for the Cheesers in their defeat which the manager has taken pretty hard, Matteo Darmian (Artisans) and, despite sitting this week's game out (oops!) Vincent Kompany (Aardvarks) will have to be considered.

The CFJs, Mega Bucks and Muppets are looking for their players to make a consistent impression while Trusted are still waiting for their first 'counter' of the season.

The first impressions edition.

Claymore seem well-equipped for a title defence. Yohan Cabaye and Georginio Wijnaldum look decent additions. There was no dream start for Kiran but he put up a strong effort and was rewarded with a goal on debut from Andre Ayew. He said he'd "shock a few", that may not be an idle boast. Last season the Aardvarks made a great start and Trusted were slow out of the blocks. We appear to have a bit of history repeating.

Yaya Toure looked like he was back in the mood, always a great sight - especially for Ceri. Julian's revamped squad not gelling just yet. The Phoenix show they'll be at the sharp end again. Brian's retention of Nathan Redmond paying dividends straight away. Philippe Coutinho still the star in Mega Bucks ranks. That late long-range goal too good for the Cheesers. FCK2 still have one of the league's best defences. They could be thereabouts if the goals start flowing.

As well as Trusted, the CFJs, Nil Satis, the Muppets, San Dimas and Fred are all thankful there's another auction before we get into the red meat of the season.

Leighton Baines out injured for months? The Artisans are still unlucky then.
