After their first defeat the Muppets got straight back on the victory trail against the Aardvarks. It was an important win as three points for Ady would have left them on the same tally. The Aardvarks made the best start too, Alexandre Lacazette taking just three minutes to put his side ahead. The lead didn’t last long though with Sadio Mane dinking over the keeper on 17 minutes. Kevin de Bruyne was perhaps a bit lucky to be credited with the goal that put Ryan ahead two minutes after the break but Raheem Sterling made sure of the win with a great curling shot from the edge of the area deep into injury time.  The CFJs stay level on points with the Muppets after a 4-0 win over Trusted, a result that stopped Beef going second. This was tight until 20 minutes from time when Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil scored within three minutes and Shkodran Mustafi and Bruno cleans finished the scoring.

San Dimas have quietly made their way up to third, Antonio Rudiger got a goal and a clean for me in my win at the six points adrift Wateringhole. Claymore are going the right way after the biggest win of the week 6-1 at Mega Bucks. Wayne Rooney was Clive’s hero, not for the first time, with a hat-trick - including one from inside his own half.

A second defeat in a week for Fred has hurt his chances of back-to-back titles. It was the erratic Phoenix who did the job this time, Anthony Martial with a well-placed shot, Chris Wood stabbing home and a bit of Riyad Mahrez magic all in 14 minutes before the break took Brian out of sight. The Artisans are eighth after defeat to Wheel Madrid. Paul W raced into a three goal lead in 25 minutes through two excellent strikes from Ashley Young and a clever lob volley from Jamie Vardy. Ben made his way back into the game through Ciaran Clark’s header and Jesse Lingard’s excellent solo run but Wheels got through that dodgy patch with a Joel Matip clean.

Markian and YTFIB stay locked together after a 1-1 draw. Harry Kane got his customary goal from the home side but Joe Gomez’s clean squared it up for Julian. Nil Satis leapfrogged Cheese Makers in the table after beating that side 1-0. Manuel Lanzini missed a penalty for Matthew and Glenn Murray had one cleared off the line so it was left to Marcos Alonso to make the only contribution of the game for Paul S.

Ryan’s unbeaten run came to an end following a dramatic finish to the game against the CFJs. The Muppets were ahead six minutes from time when a clearance looped in off Raheem Sterling but the lead only lasted a minute before Willian’s lob/cross (delete where applicable) looped in. Chris and Co, went in front with Alexis Sanchez's injury time penalty and a Mike van der Hoorn clean completed the win and puts the CFJs level with the Muppets at the top. Trusted are two points behind after beating Wheel Madrid 2-1. Beef turning round Nicolas Otamendi’s unlucky own goal when Andre Gray slid in and then David De Gea got the winning clean.

The Aardvarks came from behind to beat Nil Satis. Xherdan Shaqiri doesn’t score bad goals it seems and struck from long range for Paul. Steven Davis smacked in one of his own late on and Cech and Monreal got Ady’s cleans. San Dimas are fifth after beating Fred. Solomon Rondon got a rare goal for the champs early on but the game was levelled through Will Hughes’ debut goal for me. Charlie Daniels got my winning clean to keep me in touch with the leaders.

The Artisans and Markian played out the game of the week, a 3-3 draw.  The two minutes of the week came in this game too. Cheik Kouyate and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s excellent first of the season had Markian in front  on 45 minutes but DeAndre Yedlin slid into his own goal to make it 2-1 a minute later. After Harry Kane extended the advantage, Ben grabbed a point with cleans from substitute Ogbonna and Femenia. Claymore snuffed out the recent Cheese recovery. Dusan Tadic rolled in after 18 minutes, Sergio Aguero's penalty made it two just after the break. (Aguero and Antonio Valencia are the first players to ten counters this season.)

Two Mega Bucks cleans added to the Phoenix woes after Ruben Loftus-Cheek notched his first goal of the campaign for Brian. And Kiran celebrated his first point since week 2 with a goalless draw at YTFIB.

The Muppets were in no mood to relinquish their league lead at Stratton Park this week and hit Wheel Madrid for six. Paul’s team must have gone into the break slightly optimistic at 0-0 but Kevin de Bruyne unleashed an unstoppable left-foot shot four minutes into the second half and the Muppets were in a cosy position and brought home five clean sheets too. (Frustrated Wheels striker Callum Wilson looked on from the stand.) The CFJs are up to second following their 4-1 win over Nil Satis. Morata, Choupo-Moting, Mustafi and Sanchez all on the scoresheet on the first half for the CFJs, it’s just two wins in ten for Nil Satis.

Trusted lost ground after losing at the Artisans. Ben benefited from a controversial early penalty award that Leighton Baines tucked away but Gabriel Jesus got an equaliser on the stroke of half time after a mesmerising passing move. It was a tense second period with the only score being Kiko Femenia’s clean sheet winner for the home side. YTFIB don’t play in front of the league’s biggest crowd very often and perhaps they froze on the big stage as they shipped seven to Fred. Eden Hazard and the electric Mo Salah both bagged a brace as the champions became the third team (along with the Aardvarks and Muppets) to hit seven this season. (Rafa tells me it only happened three times all last season.)

A cagey game between old rivals Ady and Clive was settled by a single goal in the Aardvarks favour. Oumar Niasse slotted home from just inside the box in first half injury time to take the points but the striker may miss a couple of games after some falling over shenanigans. A good tussle between Mega Bucks and San Dimas eventually went my way. Wilf Zaha put Dave ahead on 35 minutes but I was ahead before the break with Ashley Barnes and Pascal Gross on target. Phillippe Coutinho brought it back to 2-2 but parity only lasted six minutes before Romelu Lukaku smashed home. Two cleans were a bit unfair on Dave and boosted my goal difference.

Markian are up to the rarefied atmosphere of ninth place after adding to Kiran’s woes. Chris Smalling rose highest at the back post to head the only goal of the game in first half injury time. Cheese Makers knocked Athletico out of the Charity Shield last week and beat the same opponents this week. Brian was ahead through Anthony Martial’s header before the interval but Matthew’s team hit back through Richarlison. With no more goals it was Steve Cook’s clean that kept all the points at Stade de Fromage.
