Seven games to go - the CFJs are five points clear. Chris and Co. saw off bottom side Wateringhole 3-0, Mike van der Hoorn got a header and there were cleans from Davies and Janmaat, while their nearest rivals faltered. Fred’s charge up the table was halted by the Aardvarks who are now second. Cent Tosun got his first WSFFL goal, an unmarked header, after 20 minutes to put Ady in front and Son Heung-Min doubled the lead on 27 minutes. Fred got one back before the break, Mo Salah found space to slot in, but Son restored the two goal lead nine minutes after half-time guiding a header in following a pin-point cross. Nemanja Matic put the icing on Ady’s win cake when smashing in in injury time.
The Muppets also slipped to defeat to lose ground, going down to San Dimas. Ryan was in front through Sadio Mane on 55 minutes but the lead lasted less than 60 seconds after Ashley Barnes outpaced the defence to get my team level. Romelu Lukaku fired in with 15 minutes left to put San Dimas in front and Sebastian Prodl’s clean rounded things out 3-1 in my favour. The Artisans and Claymore are sixth and seventh respectively after neither team found the breakthrough in their match-up.
Trusted are bottom of the top half after seeing off YTFIB 3-0. A goalless first half was followed by a goal after 46 seconds in the second, Bernardo Silva arriving at the back post to put Beef ahead. Julian’s side failed to lay a glove on Beef’s team who also picked up cleans from Otamendi and Alexander-Arnold. The ‘Nationwide derby’ went to Markian with a 2-0 win over Wheel Madrid. Chris Smalling’s header broke the deadlock on 55 minutes and Luke Shaw’s clean finished it in the home team’s favour.
Mega Bucks and Cheese Makers played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Matthew was two up in 26 minutes - Ki’s early daisy-cutter followed by Glenn Murray’s header - but Dave got a lifeline two minutes before the break when league record signing Pierre-Emerich Aubameyang (do I have to write all that every time he scores?) flicked in. Troy Deeney raced away on 77 minutes to put the Cheesers 3-1 up only for Michail Antonio’s turn and shot to reduce the deficit a minute later. Dave had the last word thanks to Matt Lowton’s substitute clean earning him a point. Paul S had promised his team a slap-up meal if they extended their winning streak but Nil Satis went home hungry after being beaten 4-0 at Athletico. Jordan Ayew’s penalty midway through the second half got Brian’s team on their way and a Riyad Mahrez bending free-kick deep into injury time was quickly followed by cleans from van Dijk and Vertonghen to make it 4-0.
