Going into the second international break there’s a different name at the top of the table. Fred takes over after a first defeat for San Dimas. That defeat was inflicted by the Aardvarks who are showing glimpses of the form that lifted them into the upper echelons last season. Alexandre Lacazette was the main man for Ady notching smart finishes in each half. Fred went top with a 2-0 win over the Muppets. Eden Hazard opened the scoring (his seventh of this young season) after half an hour, and a tight game was finally settled by Cesar Azpilicueta’s clean.
Nil Satis are flying too and are level with on points with Fred. They beat Wheel Madrid 4-1 after falling behind to a Callum Wilson goal straight after the break. Matt Doherty and then a stunning team goal finished by Aaron Ramsey put Paul S in front, Doherty and Bernard Mendy added cleans to complete the scoring. Cheese Makers hit five for the third time this season when beating Claymore. Clive’s team were already down to ten men but went 2-1 up when Ross Barkley got a rare goal on 57 minutes. A minute later Joe Ralls joined Claymore teammate Christian Kabasele in the early bath and things changed. Juan Mata got off the Cheese bench to equalise with a direct free-kick and the extra men told with Matthew’s three clean sheets.
The Wateringhole Society are in sixth after a 2-0 victory over the Artisans kept Ben's team propping up the table. Kiran already has more than half of last season’s total points tally. Kenedy got free to rifle home after just seven minutes and Andre Schurrle chipped the advancing Artisans keeper to double the lead just before the break and that was that. I thought Mega Bucks might be a dark horse this season and they’re up to seventh after beating Athletico 2-1. Anthony Martial started and finished the move that put Brian ahead after 76 minutes but the lead only lasted three minutes before P-E Aubameyang equalised.
The CFJs finally kicked into gear this week and Markian were on the receiving end. Christopher Schindler nodded the Howells ahead on 66 minutes but a stunning Gylfi Sigurdsson strike against his old club 11 minutes later drew Markian level. Alexis Sanchez powered a header in on 90 minutes to put the CFJs back in front and out-of-form Alvaro Morata added another three minutes into injury time. YTFIB got their second win of the season with the misfiring Trusted playing the victims. Beef had taken the lead after seven minutes when draft signing Richarlison converted at the back post. David Brooks got his second in a week when equalising and a brilliant Ricardo Pereira solo effort had Julian in front before half-time. A clean from Joe Gomez was the clincher for YTFIB.
