Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy
Nil Satis Nisi Optimum 3 v 0 Stanley Athletic FC
Trusted By Millions 2 v 1 Wheel Madrid
A first PCMT Final for Nil Satis, a first for Beef since 2006/7 - his only win in the competition.
Nil Satis get their first crack at a PCMT Final after ending Stanley Athletic’s seven-game unbeaten run. Demarai Gray opened the scoring seven minutes before the break when he was left unmarked to shoot under The Knives’ (I’ve decided this would be a good nickname for a team called Stanley) keeper from the edge of the box. Paul S closed the game out with cleans from Jose Sa and Stuart Dallas.
Trusted carried on their good form with a come-from-behind win against Wheel Madrid. James Maddison has got his mojo back and opened the scoring for Paul W four minutes after half-time, dancing through the Trusted defence and smashing in at the near post. Beef’s team were level thanks to a dubious injury time penalty, converted by Raphinha, and they completed the comeback winwith Diego Llorente’s clean.
Charity Shield
Aardvark Abacus 3 v 2 YTFIB
Real Muppets 0 v 1 Mega Buck Bandits
They might be struggling in the league but the Bevan brothers will contest the Charity Shield Final.
Ady will have a chance to win it for the second time after being off YTFIB 3-2. Jordan Henderson’s first time effort from the edge of the area on 9 minutes put the Aardvarks area. Son Heung-Min added a second from close range on 65 minute and in-form Diogo Jota crashed into the roof of the net from a tight angle with 11 minutes. Julian reduced the deficit with cleans from Nathan Collins and Charlie Taylor but couldn’t force a replay.
Mega Bucks will join the Aardvarks in the Final after beating the Muppets 1-0. In a tight encounter Dave got through thanks to a Matt Lowton clean.
Those final dates - 26/27 December for the Charity Shield, 28-30 December for the PCMT.
