The Wateringhole Society 2 v 2 Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
YTFIB 1 v 3 The Fabulous Artisans
A second straight week where the top three go without a win. The Wateringhole Society fought out a 2-2 draw with Nil Satis. Anthony Gordon’s deflected shot put Paul ahead after 27 minutes but second half goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Ivan Toney turned things back into the leaders’ favour midway through the second half. Nil Satis snatched a point with a Seamus Coleman clean. It was a 2-2 draw for second-place Claymore too, against Dave’s Mega Bucks. Wilf Zaha nodded in his own penalty rebound to put his team ahead on 65 minutes but an early Kristoffer Ajer clean levelled the scores with seven minutes left. Jack Harrison’s 18 yard strike put the Bandits back in front two minutes later but that was immediately cancelled out by a low Teemu Pukki shot.
Trusted went down 3-2 to the CFJs who have put themselves in with a chance of a late run for the top. Pierre Lees-Melou opened his WSFFL account to put the Cows in front early on but Trusted led before the half hour with goals from Raphinha and Leandro Trossard. Rodrigo Moreno capitalised on a defensive error on 73 minutes to bring the game level and Ben Davies’ clean won it for the Cows. The Artisans are a point behind that top four after beating YTFIB 3-1. Mason Mount struck in each half and a Martin Odegaard long range effort looped in after a deflection in the last minute before Julian mustered a consolation Ben Gibson clean.
The Aardvarks are probably too far behind to get in the shake-up at the top but they’re back in form with a 4-0 win over Wheel Madrid. A fine hat-trick from Son Heung-Min did most of the damage and Diogo Jota got the other to keep Paul’s injury-hit team down near the foot of the table. Cheese Makers and San Dimas cancelled each other out in an entertaining goalless draw to both stay in mid-table.
Cup finalists Stanley ended the Markian renaissance with a 2-0 win. Kai Havertz tapped in after 11 minutes to open the scoring and Rico Henry closed out the win for Aaron with a clean. The Muppets and Fred gave us the third 2-2 draw this week. Ryan’s team raced into an early lead when Kevin de Bruyne had a shot deflected in after five minutes but Fred levelled before the half hour with an early Kurt Zouma clean. Sadio Mane restored the lead straight after half-time but Cristian Romero’s clean made sure the game finished level.
