Let’s start with the holders as is customary. Nil Satis are through to the quarters after a 2-0 victory over Claymore. The game turned on a late penalty. Jose Sa saved from Aleksandar Mitrovic to put Paul ahead and Sven Botman confirmed the win with a clean. Trusted were beaten in the final last year and are back in the last eight after a 3-2 win at Fred. A Gabriel Jesus brace had Beef two up but the Gardeners pulled one back when an attempted clearance bounced in off Taiwo Awoniyi. Luis Diaz’ brilliant finish restored the two goal lead on the hour and although that was cut when Gabriel Martinelli struck from outside the box with 15 minutes left Beef’s team saw out the rest of the game. The Muppets were the big winners in League Week One and they repeated the feat with another 5-0 win, the Artisans the victims this time. Kalidou Coulibaly volleyed in a corner after 19 minutes, Kevin De Bruyne curled in the second and then slipped Phil Foden in to make it 3-0 at the break. Reece James blasted in a fourth before Lucas Digne bundled in an own goal to round out Ben’s bad day.

Shock result of the day was Julian’s 3-0 win over The Wateringhole Society. Ilkay Gundogan converted a one-on-one on 19 minutes and when William Saliba headed past his own keeper eight minutes after the break Kiran’s team were right up against it. They couldn’t find a response and Nathan Collins' clean made it 3-0. The Wateringhole are yet to win a PCMT game in eight attempts. Cheese Makers have never got past the quarter-finals but they’ll have another crack at it after edging Mega Bucks 3-2. Danny Ings opened the scoring with a fine turn and low shot on 31 minutes but Dave immediately responded through Wilfried Zaha. Matthew was back in front three minutes later when Bryan Mbeumo converted on the break. Grant Xhaka brought Dave level ten minutes after the interval after a keeper error but the tie was settled with Jonny’s clean sheet.

There are three replays to sort out after the rest of the games all finished 1-1. Kyle Walker-Peters shot across the keeper with nine minutes left to give my team the lead at the Aardvarks only for Antonee Robinson to get a levelling clean sheet. Ian must have thought he’d beaten Aaron when Harry Kane headed in six minutes into injury time only for Kiran Trippier to reply with a clean for SGU. James Maddison fired through the CFJs keeper with 16 minutes left to put Wheel Madrid ahead but a Rayan Ait-Nouri clean for the Cows mean the two teams will try again this week.

Replays

San Dimas made a fourth straight 1st round exit after a 3-1 defeat to the Aardvarks. After an early goal for each side Ady went through courtesy of cleans from Ben White and Lewis Dunk. Brendan Aaronson’s first WSFFL goal put Ian ahead but SGU were level with a brilliant Kieran Trippier free-kick. Harry Kane’s close range header and a Davinson Sanchez clean saw Markian through. Brennan Johnson’s first WSFFL strike was the winner for the CFJs over Wheel Madrid after Miguel Almiron’s goal had been cancelled out by James Maddison.
