The Aardvarks stay top but weren't at their best in beating YTFIB 1-0. Robbie Brady has been a real find for Ady and converted a 12th minute spot-kick which proved to be the only goal of the game. Brady could be out for a month with injury which won't help the forthcoming top of the table clash with San Dimas. My team moved into second after rolling over Fred 4-0. Romelu Lukaku bossed the first half and scored twice, Dejan Lovren and Maynor Figueroa doubled the score with cleans.

Two of our early leaders played out a draw and are third and fourth. FCK2's defenders have been doing Kevin's best work this season and Steven Caulker put his side ahead early on. Goals either side of half-time from Yaya Toure and Dani Osvaldo (his first in the WSFFL) put Ceri in front but old stager John Terry lumbered forward to score and grab a share of the points. The Muppets are fifth but fell to improving Cheese Makers. Danny Sturridge armed in to give Ryan a first half lead but after the break it was all Matthew. Yohan Cabaye got the equaliser then new signing Morgan Amalfitano danced through the Muppets defence and dinked his team in front. (There should be more dinking.) Jose Fonte's clean completed the win.

Champions the CFJs welcomed back Luis Suarez after suspension and he notched a close range goal in each half to improve Chris' position. Gylfi Sigurdsson is thriving after Gareth Bale's departure and put the CFJs ahead before Suarez came to the party. Michael Turner got the clean to make it 4-0 against a disappointing Phoenix team. Trusted still aren't firing on all cylinders and were held by the Parrots. Rickie Lambert fired in an excellent free-kick just after the break to put Dean ahead but Edin Dzeko backed in seven minutes later for Beef and that was how it finished.

The Fabulous Artisans appeared to be moving on to ten points after Serge Gnabry (another WSFFL first) and Loic Remy had given Ben's team a 2-0 lead with a minute left. Then the Mega Bucks woke up and turned the tables with cleans from Artur Boruc, Curtis Davies and Russell Martin. Claymore got a measure of revenge after their Cup defeat beating Nil satis 3-2. Clive had raced into a 3-0 lead through Ross Barkley, Emanuele Giaccherini and Wayne Rooney before the hour. Another Aaron Ramsey goal gave Paul hopes that a fightback was on but he could only add a Nathaniel Clyne clean before the end.

Would you believe it? Ady is top on alphabetical order!

Previous leaders Final Fantasy were held 1-1 by Cheese Makers, Yaya Toure kneeing on from close range after a Brad Guzan saved penalty gave Matthew an early lead. The end of Ceri's 100% record opened the door for the Muppets to go top but they were on the wrong end of a 4-1 beating by San Dimas. Libor Kozak got his first WSFFL goal for me but the lead lasted less than a minute when Ravel Morrison's shot took a deflection and flew in. The second half was all my team though with Dejan Lovren scoring and getting a clean while Romelu Lukaku powered in a header with five minutes left.

Those two results meant that an Aardvark win over the Parrots would give Ady a shot at top spot. In the end it was fairly routine. Robbie Brady scored midway through the first half and Petr Cech finished things with a clean. With points, difference, goals scored and cancelled cleans all level it comes down to the alphabet. At the other end, the Parrots really haven't clicked this season and are now bottom. Kevin's FCK2 are back to winning ways after edging Mega Bucks. Nathan Dyer's goal early in the second period put FCK2 ahead but Mark Noble levelled from the penalty spot for Dave on 76 minutes. Five minutes later Noble was dismissed and the highly-rated Luke Shaw got the winning clean.

The Fabulous Artisans added to the reigning champions' wos with a 3-2 win. The CFJs had gone ahead through Michu inside two minutes but a brace from Loic Remy had Ben in front by the break. Sone Aluko's volley put the Artisans out of reach and Chico's clean for Chris was a consolation. If the CFJs are struggling what about Claymore? Clive's team fell to another defeat, 3-1 at home to Trusted. Stephane Sessegnon notched from close range after 20 minutes to open the scoring and it took Clive more than 50 minutes to square the match through Bacary Sagna's looping header. Parity lasted less than five minutes though as Liam Ridgewell scored for Beef and Michael Dawson's clean completed the victory.

Nil Satis picked up their first win of the season, 2-1 at Athletico Phoenix. Aaron Ramsey is finally looking like the player Paul thought he'd bought and fired Nil Satis ahead on five minutes. Per Mertersacker glanced Brian level before the break but Oscar restored Paul's lead from close range early in the second half. An RvP-less Phoenix failed to find an equaliser. Struggling YTFIB and Fred fought out a 1-1 draw. Samir Nasri's volley early in the second half gave Julian the lead but Paulinho's clever backheel right at the death earned Fred a point.

The Fabulous Artisans 3 v 1 Mega Buck Bandits

Holders the CFJs are into the quarter finals with a win over Cheese Makers. Gylfi Sigurdsson has been a bit of the forgotten man in Chris's midfield but scored either side of half time and Michu completed the win just after the hour. Last year's beaten finalists San Dimas are through too. Hatem Ben Arfa getting the only goal against Trusted.

The two teams with 100% records in the league were both knocked out. Final Fantasy took an injury time lead through Gareth McAuley but Fred turned it round through cleans from Nemanja Vidic and Alex Kolarov. Real Muppets also took the lead in their game, in the fourth minute through another Danny Sturridge goal, but cleans from Luke Shaw and Rio Ferdinand see Kevin progress in his first Cup competition.

Charity Shield holders the Parrots will get the chance to defend their title as they went out to the Aardvarks. Peter Whittingham scored on the hour and Matija Nastasic added a clean for Ady. Athletico Phoenix were the previous Charity Shield winners but Brian's team will get a crack at the PCMT this year. Robin van Persie's penalty and two cleans were too much for YTFIB.

Biggest win of the week was in the Evertonian derby but not the way you think. Nil Satis fell behind to Olivier Giroud's goal for Claymore but Steven Naismith levelled right on half time and Aaron Ramsey added a brace to see Paul through. The Fabulous Artisans have had the PCMT on their mantelpiece recently but Ben needed a replay to get past Mega Bucks thanks to Christian Benteke equalising a Curtis Davies goal.

In that replay it was a Loic Remy brace that put Ben in control and although Dave's team hit back with a Mark Noble penalty it was an excellent Sone Aluko volley that sent the Artisans through.

Quarter finals of the PCMT and Charity Shield are set for w/c 26 October.

Final Fantasy took over the top spot of the league in week three last season and have done it again this time. The Okus Derby against Mega Bucks looked to be drifting towards a goalless draw until Yaya Toure curled home a free-kick in the final minute. Angel Rangel and Javier Garrido added cleans and Ceri will look to stay top longer than the three weeks her team managed last season. The Muppets are the only other team left with a 100% record after a 4-1 win over YTFIB. Ryan was two ahead inside ten minutes. Danny Sturridge steering in a close range header after four of those minutes and a deflection off Danny Gabbidon doubling the advantage. Dwight Gayle's penalty pulled one back 11 minutes from time for Julian but Joleon Lescott and Daniel Agger completed the scoring in Ryan's favour.

The Aardvarks are the other unbeaten team and are up to third after inflicting a second defeat of the campaign on Claymore. Clive took the lead in this one, Olivier Giroud guiding in at the near post midway through the first half, but Ady settled it with cleans from Phil Jagielka and Matija Nastisic. Kevin suffered his first defeat as a WSFFL boss, going down 2-0 to the CFJs. Chris's team still couldn't find the net but at least had two cleans from Michael Turner and Geoff Cameron to get his season up and running.

San Dimas suffered their first defeat too and Cheese Makers picked up their first win in the process. Matthew had lost his first two matches late on but it was roles reversed this week. Hatem Ben Arfa had slammed my team ahead with four minutes to go but cleans from Sebastian Bassong and David Santon made it a happy return journey to Cornwall for the Cheesers. The Phoenix suffered a heavy defeat last week but showed the sort of bouncebackability Brian would have called for when downing Trusted 3-0. Nathan Redmond got his first WSFFL goal on 68 minutes, Ashley Williams and Pablo Zabaleta added cleans. That's two defeats out of three for Beef.

The Artisans picked up their first win of the season, 2-0 over Nil Satis. Alvaro Negredo is looking like a good signing and he headed Ben's team ahead on 65 minutes. Leighton Baines got the clean to finish matters and keep Paul bottom for now. That's slightly misleading as the two teams above him, Fred and the Parrots, failed to play due to a nasty outbreak of Chelseaitis in the Fred camp. Symptoms include arrogance, adultery and inappropriate use of firearms.
