The Muppets looked to be going five points clear as they raced to a 3-0 lead over Trusted. It was a goalless first half but Daniel Sturridge and Luka Milivojevic scored within a minute of each other and new ‘Fox in the Box’ Raheem Sterling made it three from close in on 64 minutes. Beef’s team weren’t taking that lying down and found three cleans from Ben Mee, Phil Jones and Ryan Shawcross to grab a point at the last. The CFJs could have gone joint top with a win at Claymore but lost to Davide Zappacosta’s first clean for Clive.

Fred are up to fourth after a big win at Markian. Leroy Sane for Fred and Fernandinho for Markian scored within five minutes of each other in the first half to send the game in at 1-1 at the break. Eden Hazard put the champions back in front six minutes after the break and this time there was no reply and Kurt Zouma and Cesar Azpilicueta added the gloss to the scoreline. The Aardvarks missed a chance to close on the top, losing 3-1 at Athletico. Steven Davis had given Ady the lead too on seven minutes, quickest to follow-up an effort that hit the bar. Brian got back on terms through Demarai Gray (a little fortuitously perhaps) and Anthony Martial smashed the Kingham club ahead with ten minutes left. Harry Maguire completed the scoring in Athletico’s favour.

My team’s form had been a bit shoddy lately and I trailed to the Cheese Makers as the game headed into injury time. Glenn Murray’s first for Matthew had headed his team in front on 52 minutes but a slack piece of defending two minutes into injury time allowed Matt Phillips to steal in and equalise before Simon Mignolet and Antonio Rudiger got the cleans to give San Dimas the points. The Artisans are eighth after beating the union tenants at Goddard Park 3-1. The Wateringhole Society have been unlucky in defeat in recent weeks but a bit less so this time. Chicarito put Ben ahead on the half hour, Roberto Firmino and Gio Wijnaldum added second half efforts before Erik Pieters clean was Kiran’s only reply.

YTFIB are up to ninth! Julian’s team beat Dave’s 3-2 this week. Darren Fletcher’s training ground volley from a corner put YTFIB ahead but Dave turned it round deep in injury time with Wilfried Zaha’s strike adding to an earlier goal from Sead Kolasinac. Julian had cleans from Joe Gomez and Christian Fuchs for a late twist and the win. It was a five-goal thriller in the game between the two Pauls that aren’t me. Paul W was two up inside twenty minutes through Jay Rodriguez and Jamie Vardy but Paul W hit back with a saved pen from Jonas Lossl and a goal from Aaron Ramsey. The winner came for Paul W on 74 minutes when Jef Hendrick was given time to control and smash in from the corner of the six-yard box.

The Muppets remain unbeaten and still lead but a draw with the Artisans means the margin is back to two points. Ryan had looked in control after a Federico Fernandez own goal and a close range finish from Shinji Okazaki had him two up but with five minutes left Sofiane Boufal pulled one back for Ben after an amazing solo run and finish and Maya Yoshida's clean shared the points. Trusted took advantage of that slip to close the gap but left it late against Nil Satis. Paul’s team led through Pedro’s early stunner before Phil Jones limped off with a clean. Nicolas Otamendi headed Beef in front but Aaron Ramsey squared it as the clock ticked into injury time. The result went Beef’s way with Otamendi’s clean the decider.

The CFJs join Trusted on 14 points after a big win over the Phoenix. Brian’s team held out until half-time but Roberto Pereyra’s strike on 49 minutes was soon followed by Mesut Ozil’s header. That was it until injury time when Alexis Sanchez led the Phoenix defence a merry dance before finding the far corner and two cleans followed to round out the 5-0 win. If that was big the Aardvarks went bigger, beating San Dimas 7-0. Son Heung-Min outpaced my back four to smash in on 12 minutes and after Dejan Lovren was subbed things settled down for an hour. Then Michy Batshuayi got two either side of an Alexandre Lacazette effort and three cleans from Ady’s team meant my team were locked in the dressing room for an hour afterwards.

Fred had their hands full with the Wateringhole Society this week but came through 5-3. Mo Salah’s pace was too much for Kiran’s team on 24 minutes and he raced through to open the scoring. That lead lasted just four minutes later with Aaron Mooy finishing off a move he started back at the half way line. Dele Alli’s volley in first half injury time restored the champions lead and Alfie Mawson’s smart turn and shot  made it 3-1 11 minutes after the break. Leroy Sane made it 4-1 and though Marcus Rashford headed home to reduce the deficit Cesar Azpilicueta nodded in with three minutes left to end any hopes of a comeback. Claymore ended their losing streak in style at Stratton Park with a 6-0 win over Wheel Madrid. The game was up by half time. Wayne Rooney had rolled back the years with his early strike and Sergio Aguero added a penalty on the half hour. Abdoulaye Doucoure got a third in injury time. That was the end of the goals but Claymore added three cleans.

The Harry Kane team (Pep said it, not me!) Markian United had their striker to thank for a 2-0 win over Mega Bucks that lifts them to ninth. YTFIB are going the right way too after coming away from the Stade de Fromage with a 3-0 win. Laurent Deportee and Mame Diouf got Julian’s goals. Mat Ryan added a clean.

The Muppets didn’t have to be at their best to hold on to top spot and coasted to victory over Nil Satis. Raheem Sterling finished off a sparkling team move on 19 minutes and Ryan’s team only needed to add a clean from Toby Alderweireld to complete the win. There's a four-point gap now and the team in second are the red-hot Trusted. Beef’s five straight wins in the league have seen 20 goals for and three against and Claymore were bulldozed 6-1 this week. Gabriel Jesus scored twice before Anthony Knockaert and Bernardo Silva added goals in the last 11 minutes. This time last year Clive was embarking on a ten game league losing streak - he’s up to three…

The CFJs are still unbeaten after a 2-2 draw with San Dimas. David Silva opened the scoring for me but goals either side of half-time from Tammy Abraham might have won the game for Chris had it not been for Dejan Lovren’s clean. The Aardvarks lost their unbeaten record with a defeat at YTFIB, Joe Gomez’s clean for Julian the game’s only score.

Mega Bucks are up to sixth after edging the Wateringhole Society 3-2. Michail Antonio latched onto a massive clearance to open the scoring for Dave and the returning Wilf Zaha doubled the lead on half-time. Manolo Gabbiadini found his scoring boots to get two and draw Kiran level but Antonio Valencia’s clean for Mega Bucks was the last word in this one. Fred’s pursuit of back-to-back titles was dented by a reverse to the Artisans. An early Cesar Azpilicueta own goal saw Ben in Front but a Kyle Walker o.g. got things back on terms. Christian Eriksen struck almost straight away to restore the lead but that only lasted 15 minutes before Leroy Sane raced onto a pinpoint pass to thrash home. The game was settled in Ben’s favour by cleans from Fernandez and Darmian.

The Phoenix ended their bad trot with a comfortable win over Wheel Madrid. Timoue Bakayoko got his first for Brian’s team, Riyad Mahrez got his first of the campaign and Chris Wood headed home with five minutes left to finish the 3-0 win. After winning two of his first three Paul W is now in a bad trot of his own. Markian picked up their second win and leapfrogged their opponents, Cheese Makers into the bargain. Davidson Sanchez got the clean and the points for the home team.
