Cup semi-final results

Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy

Aardvark Abacus 1 v 1 Trusted By Millions
Fred West Landscape Gardening XI 0 v 6 Real Muppets

Replay

Trusted By Millions 0  v 1 Aardvark Abacus

The holders go out in spectacular style to the league leaders. Ryan was two up at the break through Shinji Okazaki and Kevin de Bruyne and when Okazaki made a great run into the box to beat the defenders and turn in a cross with 20 minutes left there was no coming back for Fred.

The Aardvarks and Trusted will go to a replay. It all happened late here. The in-form Son Heung-Min saw his stooping header deflected in with three minutes left abut there was still time for Phil Jones to get an equalising clean for Beef.

In that replay, Nacho Monreal’s clean sent Ady through to face Ryan in the final starting on New Year’s Day. The Muppets last won this in 1999/2000. The Aardvarks last win came in 2005/6 and have lost in five finals since.

Charity Shield

Cheese Makers 0 v 1 Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
The Cow-Faced Juniors 2 v 2 Wheel Madrid

Replay

Wheel Madrid 0 v 3 The Cow-Faced Juniors

Nil Satis will get a chance to defend their trophy after edging out Cheese Makers 1-0. Pedro curled in the only goal of the game five minutes after the break.

The CFJs and Wheels will have to try again at the weekend. Chris and Co were two up by half time thanks to headers from Daryl Janmaat and Willian. Paul W left it late to get back on terms with cleans from Karius and Klavan.

In the replay, Mesut Osil’s volley midway through the first half set the CFJs on the way to victory and a place in the Boxing Day final against Nil Satis. It means the last two winners of the trophy will square up.
