Report

The Muppets claim the PCMT for the third time in six seasons and the fourth in all with a comeback win against YTFIB. Julian's improving team took the lead just after the half-hour when Bobby Decordova-Reid glanced in a header and they took that advantage into the break.

Six minutes after half-time Ryan's team were level. WSFFL record-signing Erling Haaland couldn't miss after the Muppets latched on to a defensive blunder. YTFIB weren't deterred by the setback though, Solly March hitting a 25-yard screamer into the top corner just five minutes later.

Haaland soon scored a second equaliser, being given too much space for a first-time finish from 12 yards and this time his team were on top and the game was settled with a clean sheet from Kalidou Koulibaly. £97m of talent on the scoresheet proving too much in the end for a squad worth not much more than half that.

Report

Claymore and San Dimas will have to try again to decide this season's Charity Shield winners after a 2-2 draw.

It was first blood to Clive on 22 minutes when Daniel Podence guided in first-time after a cleverly-worked set-piece but my team were level ten minutes later when Joelinton powered in a header. He has a habit of scoring against his former employers.

Three minutes later The Saints were in front. Romain Perraud got himself in a pickle in front of his own goal and bundled in. That's how it stayed until ten minutes from time when Aleksandar Mitrovic was left alone to place a header in and force the replay.

The CFJs probably don’t want the season to take a break. Their great run continued with a 6-0 thrashing of Claymore, which takes them to 19 scored in the past three games. Sheesh! Kiefer Moore headed the opener, Rodrigo Moreno scored two, Ben Davies drilled in from the edge of the area and Rodrigo Bentancur added two more in the last ten minutes. They can’t keep this up. Can they? Fred is still the closest to the leaders at eight points behind after seeing off Nil Satis 3-0. Goalless until 54 minutes when Morgan Gibbs-White was quickest to a rebound the Gardeners added cleans from Timothy Castagne and Joe Worrall from the bench.

The Artisans are third after a big win against Trusted. Alexis Mac Allister and Roberto Firmino had Ben two up in six minutes but Che Adams pulled one back for Beef with a header from a free-kick before the tenth minute. Martin Odegaard bagged a second-half brace for the Artisans either side of a Joe Willock reply before Aaron Ramsdale got the clean to make it 5-2. The Wateringhole Society beat San Dimas 4-2 and are two points further back in fourth. My team led twice too. Crysencio Summerville making it three in three early on and Jaidon Anthony heading his first with 21 minutes to go. Harvey Barnes raced onto a through ball to equalise. Ivan Toney got his second on the breakaway deep into injury time to put Kiran in front and William Saliba finished it with a clean.

The Aardvarks are up to sixth following a 3-0 win over Cheese Makers, Matthew unable to follow up his good win last week. Marcus Tavernier followed up a keeper spill to open the scoring on 18 minutes and Ady finished it with cleans from Luke Thomas and Ben White. A 1-0 win for Wheel Madrid over Mega Bucks puts Paul W’s team up to seventh. James Maddison fired into the roof of the net in the eighth minute for the only goal of the game with Wilfied Zaha missing a penalty for Dave.

The Muppets conceded five for the second week running, this time to Markian. Ian raced into a 3-0 lead with a double from Darwin Nunez and one from Harry Kane. Phil Foden produced a brilliant hit to reduce the deficit in first-half injury time but the only further scoring was from Markian in the shape of cleans from Fabian Schar and Ashley Young. YTFIB beat Stanley and Gracie 2-0 to join that team on 13 points. Cleans from Adam Smith and Joel Ward were Julian’s scorers.

The CFJs hold a huge eight point lead a third of the way into our season. Chris and Co saw off second place Fred 5-3 this week to keep their unbeaten run going. In a terrific first half the Cows led with an early Rodrigo penalty only for the Gardeners to turn it round with goals from Mohamed Salah and Morgan Gibbs-White inside 20 minutes. Miguel Almiron kept his 'Goal of the Month every month' bid going after 35 minutes when finishing off a dazzling run. Five minutes later Fred led again, Salah latching on to a defensive mistake for a simple finish. It was level again after 63 minutes when Gabriel finished from practically underneath the bar. Yoann Wissa lobbed the leaders in front with a quarter of an hour to go and Daniel Amartey finally clinched the win with a clean.

Trusted are third after a 1-1 draw with San Dimas. Joe Willock toe-poked Beef ahead just after the hour mark but debut-maker Crysencio Summerville finished a one-on-one with six minutes left to give me a share of the points. The Artisans are fourth after going down 2-0 to Cheese Makers. Matthew’s first win of the season was earned through goals from Julian Alvarez, smashing into the roof of the net on 16 minutes, and a Bryan Mbeumo penalty in first half injury time. The Wateringhole are fifth after a second successive 2-2 draw, this time against Claymore. Clive went ahead on 12 minutes through an off-balance Gonzalo Guedes finish. Kiran levelled one minute from the interval when Kaoru Mitoma headed in on debut only for Youri Tielemans (who appears to be in a Goal of the Month competition with Almiron every month) to volley Claymore ahead again. The Wateringhole’s second equaliser came late, Harvey Barnes turn and shot on 86 minutes.

The Muppets are sixth with half the points of the leaders. Ryan went down 5-2 to the improving Aardvarks this week. Ady was two up at the break thanks to Marcus Tavernier and an unlucky Jacob Ramsey own goal. Ramsey picked out the top corner at the right end to reduce the deficit four minutes after the restart but Chris Wood’s shot on the turn and Liam Cooper headed home to make it 4-1. Erling Haaland’s penalty for Ryan was a minor consolation before Ben White’s clean finished the scoring and made it three wins in a row for Ady. Stanley and Gracie picked up their first win since September, 3-2 at Mega Bucks. Andreas Pereira opened the scoring from the spot for Aaron but it was 1-1 at half-time after Wilf Zaha smashed in from 14 yards. Keiran Trippier bagged an early clean and Pascal Gross slid to convert the third for SGU seven minutes from time. Bruno Guimaraes injury time shot from the edge of the D couldn’t set up a late comeback.

Wheel Madrid edged Nil Satis 2-1. Leon Bailey outpaced Paul S’s defence to fire Paul W in front on seven minutes and a tight game had to wait for second half injury time for the next goal, Michael Olise’s deflected shot looping in for 2-0. Nil Satis had time to pull one back from a Matt Doherty clean but it wasn’t enough to take anything from the game. Markian just saw off YTFIB 1-0. Harry Kane’s first-time finish with 20 minutes enough to earn all the points for Ian.
