Markian United 4 v 0 Mega Buck Bandits
Stanley and Gracie United 3 v 4 Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
The Fabulous Artisans 3 v 1 Real Muppets
Wheel Madrid 2 v 8 (eight) The Cow-Faced Juniors
You could make the argument that the CFJs had been a little lucky in being top and unbeaten after eight games but the Cows exploded that this week with an eight-goal battering of Wheel Madrid. It was only 2-1 at the break, Callum Wilson’s penalty narrowing the deficit after gaols from Kiefer Moore and Odsonne Edouard. Moore’s diving header four minutes half-time extended the lead but Wilson pulled it back to 3-2 with a header of his own. The CFJs took off from here though. Miguel Almiron scored another for his highlight reel, Ben Davies headed in from a corner and Rodrigo Bentancur added another in injury time before Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel added clean sheets.
There’s a five-point gap back to Fred in second after his team were held by The Wateringhole Society. Gabriel Martinelli’s header and Mohamed Salah’s hooked finish had the Gardeners two up inside 15 minutes. A powerful header from Marcus Rashford pulled it back to 2-1 seven minutes before the interval and William Saliba’s clean earned Kiran a draw. The Artisans climb to third after seeing off the Haaland-less Muppets 3-1. A fantastic Kevin De Bruyne free-kick saw Ryan ahead just after half-time but Ben turned it round courtesy of Martin Odegaard’s late goal and Marc Guehi andDiogo Dalot’s cleans. Trusted are a further point back after adding to Matthew’s woes with a 5-0 win. Leandro Trossard was on target after five minutes but it took Beef until after the hour mark to put the game away with cleans from Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jeff Schlupp, Conor Coady and Adam Webster.
Claymore missed a chance to close on the top three with defeat at home to San Dimas. My team had a helping hand with a Trevoh Chalobah own goal before the break, Joelinton latched on to a rebound to make it two on the hour and a clean from Dan Burn completed the win. Nil Satis are eighth after edging a seven-goal thriller against SGU. Aaron can consider himself unluckiest manager of the week after coming back from an early Ruben Loftus-Cheek own goal. Kai Havertz headed the equaliser and Ben Mee’s spectacular volley in the space of three minutes made it 2-1 but it turned again as Paul S bagged early cleans from Seamus Coleman and Sven Botman. Pascal Gross got SGU back on terms in injury time but there was still time for a Vitaly Mykolenko clean to win it for Nil Satis.
The Aardvarks leapfrogged YTFIB (can aardvarks leapfrog?) with a 1-0 win over those opponents. A clean from Ben White getting the job done for Ady. Two goals in a minute helped Markian to a 4-0 win over Mega Bucks. Thomas Partey hit a first-time shot from range and Ryan Sessegnon quickly followed up by firing across the keeper. Luke Shaw and Fabian Schar got the cleans to cap it off.
