The Muppets took a step closer to defending the cup with a 3-1 win over the CFJs. Erling Haaland scored a first half penalty, added a header four minutes after the break and teed up Phil Foden to make it 3-0 with ten minutes left. Fabio Vieira got the Cows consolation with a late penalty. League leaders the Aardvarks made it through by the same scoreline. Diogo Jota put Ady in front after half an hour and Joel Ward turned a cross into his own net to make it 2-0 eight minutes after the break. Julian’s team were cut open again 13 minutes later for Son Heung-Min to apply the finish and while Hwang Hee-Chan pulled one back with twenty minutes to play there was no coming back for YTFIB.

Cheese Makers have made the semi-finals of this competition for the first time after beating SGU 2-0. An 84-minute clean from Aaron Hickey broke the deadlock and Bryan Mbeumo’s breakaway goal six minutes into injury time finished the job. Wheel Madrid have been struggling in the league but made the semi-finals for the third time with a 3-2 win against the Wateringhole. John McGinn put Paul ahead from a set-piece after 17 minutes, Callum Wilson hooked in five minutes later to double the lead and then converted a controversial penalty to make it three. Kiran replied through cleans by Ruben Dias and William Saliba but came up short in his search for an equaliser.

Charity Shield

The holders are out. My team going down 6-1 to the Artisans. Eddie Nketiah grabbed his first WSFFL hat-trick, Moussa Diaby lashed one in early in the second half and while Joao Palhinha’s excellent effort pulled it back to 4-1 there was still time for an unlucky Emi Martinez own goal and Kostas Tsimikas to notch a clean for Ben. Nil Satis picked up their first win of the season, downing third-placed Markian 3-1. Ian scored first through Darwin Nunez but Paul got back on level terms six minutes after the break when Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a shot on the turn. Nil Satis got the win thanks to cleans from Jarrad Braithwaite and Nathan Patterson.

Two games still to sort out. Fred and Mega Bucks drew 1-1. Ethan Pinnock’s powerful header had Dave in front. Mohamed Salah equalised for Fred after a keeper blunder 20 minutes later. It was 2-2 between Claymore and Trusted. Charlie Taylor fired Clive into an early lead, a long-range debut goal from Philip Billing brought the game level and then Takehiro Tomiyasu looked to have won the game for Beef deep in injury time. John Stones' clean sheet made sure Claymore get a second bite at the cherry.

Replays

Claymore’s wait for the WSFFL Grand Slam will have to continue after a heavy defeat at home to Trusted. Most of the scoring happened in the first half, a Bernardo Silva brace helping to send Beef in 4-1 up. Luis Diaz got the emotional fifth in injury time.

Fred’s team is the only one of the semi-finalists not to have won this before. After trailing to an early Neil Maupay three-yard header until injury time, Bruno Fernandes fired in an equaliser and Aaron Wan-Bissaka got the clean to knock out the Bandits.
