Another change of leadership and the Aardvarks top the table again. Ady’s team beat title rivals Nil Satis 3-1 thanks to goals from Liam Cooper, a super curling effort from Jordan Henderson plus a clean from Ryan Bertrand. It’s Ady’s 100th week at the top since August 2000. Stanley reached the top but it seems like they had to stop, they were beaten 5-1 by the Artisans. Victor Lindelof had Aaron ahead too but Roberto Firmino equalised a minute before the break. The returning Dan James fired Ben ahead on 66 minutes and it was 3-1 two minutes later when Firmino notched his second and the Artisans picked up cleans from Evans and Walker to compete the win and move three points from the top.
Looks like Fred means business! A 7-0 dismissal of injury-hit Markian sees the Gardeners into second. If Bruno Fernandes and Mo Salah stay fit and in-form then Fred might be favourite to take the title. They scored two goals each this week, Cassagne, Zouma and Azpilicueta rounded out the performance with clean sheets. The CFJs are fifth after leaving it late to beat Trusted 2-0. Tammy Abraham had been quiet recently but scored twice in three minutes to deliver the win.
Mega Bucks are seventh after an Alisson clean earned Dave a point at YTFIB. Julian was on the verge of victory after Bertrand Traore’s cool side-foot finish six minutes from time but couldn’t hang on. Wheel Madrid are back in the top half after beating the Wateringhole 4-1. The league’s two highest scorers were always going to produce goals and it took just three minutes for Takumi Minamino to put Kiran ahead. Thiago Silva brought it level after 10 minutes and Jamie Vardy’s first-half injury-time penalty turned the tide. Callum Wilson added a spot-kick of his own to make it 3-1 and Silva’s clean completed the win.
Claymore are still bottom but closed the table up after a 4-2 win at the Muppets. Raheem Sterling and Sadio Mane had Ryan in charge with first-half goals but Clive pulled one back with a Joel Veltman 45 minute clean. An unfortunate Toby Alderweireld own goal on the hour levelled the contest and two more cleans , from Cash and Stone,. mean Clive’s Christmas dinner will taste a bit better. Cheese Makers continued their good form with a 1-0 win at San Dimas. Yerry Mina heading the winner on 45 minutes (apparently his last four goals have all come in the 45th minute stats fans.)
