My annual assessment of the WSFFL teams starts with the bottom four.
13th: Nil Satis Nisi Optimum (down two places on last season)
In fifth place, and with a PCMT Final win for the first time, all was looking good for Paul at week 20. A spectacular collapse followed with only one more win. Players on the beach? Manager on the beach? Both? The start of next season will give a good indication as to which way this team's heading.
What happened to last year's Star Player? Stuart Dallas was well down on last season's numbers and sadly picked up a bad injury late in the season.
Star Player? Jose Sa (nine cleans)
14th: Markian United (up two)
Ok, Ian's team spent 29 weeks in the bottom three but five wins and a draw in the last 11 games definitely shows hope for next season. There have been some interesting signings heading into The Rock over recent months so some summer additions could make this a team to watch.
What happened to last year's Star Player? After a slow start to the season a certain striker won this for the seventh season in a row...
Star Player? Harry Kane (12 cleans)
15th: Wheel Madrid (down one)
Spent the Jack Grealish money on Bailey, Varane and Lukaku. Injuries and lack of form meant none of them really contributed. Callum Wilson also missed a big chunk of the season. Another manager who's very happy to pick the same team week on week - that might have to change if this team is to progress.
What happened to last year's Star Player? Jamie Vardy was another with injury problems but still scored 12 goals.
Star Player? Thiago Silva (three goals, 14 clean sheets)
16th: YTFIB (down four)
After two seasons outside the bottom four Julian propped up the league for the 13th time. Only 41 counters is the second-worst that I can find easily. Picked up Manager of the Month in January after nine straight defeats but that was the only highlight. A big clear-out of this squad is coming too.
What happened to last year's Star Player? Nick Pope had little chance to add to his three previous wins.
Star Player? Ilkay Gundogan (eight goals)
