Boston Rock representation down from six starters and two subs to five starters. Clearly plenty of English talent out there so why are the national team struggling? Ashley Young edged out Matthew Etherington by virtue of having more full caps.

Co-ordinator Awards - Team of the Season

(All awards are made on basis of contributions in all WSFFL competitions. Where there is a tie, contributions in league matches take precedence. Then I'll try and separate them by goals scored. Then perhaps most followers on Twitter or most super-injunctions taken out. If you see two or more names as subs in a position I still couldn't split them.)

GK: Joe Hart (Dead Parrots)

2010/11 Player of the Season

I thought he deserved a post to himself.

The 2010/11 WSFFL Player of the Season is Claymore Athletic's Branislav Ivanovic. The Serbian racked up 20 contributions (four goals, 16 clean sheets) to just edge out Carlos Tevez.

Ivanovic joined Claymore for an eye-watering £9,000,000 in February 2008 but he didn't break into Clive's first team until the following season.

The 2008/9 season was not the most productive either with the defender only clocking up three cleans and spending much of the winter of the sidelines. Ivanovic was being linked with a move to Fiorentina during the January transfer window but the rumours came to nothing.

2009/10 was the Serb's breakthrough year as he notched 12 clean sheets and became a fixture in the Claymore team. He also finished just behind Wayne Rooney in Clive's Player of the Season honours.

Ivanovic also scooped the league's Defender of the Season award (naturally!) and he told the co-ordinator: "It is good news for me, it is a very big step for me in my career and I want to try to help Claymore win trophies".

Congratulations to the 27 year-old who follows in the footsteps of these previous winners:

2009/10 - Frank Lampard (Boston Rock) - 21 goals
2008/09 - Nemanja Vidic - (Fred West LG XI) - three goals, 19 cleans
2007/08 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Muppets) - 27 goals

More award stuff over the next week or so.

Co-Ord Round-up Part Five - If we did things differently...

Like I said last year,  I'm not suggesting we do! The way we compare scores against one other is what makes this the king of Fantasy Football games. But what if we did? The table below shows the finishing positions by number of 'contributions' (goals, cleans, saved penalties and own goals)*.

1. You Know Your Boston Rock FC - 113 (one place higher than real table, 10 fewer contributions than last season)
2. Fred West Landscape Gardening XI - 112 (one place lower, nine more)
3. The Fabulous Artisans - 96 (three places higher, seven fewer)
4. Real Muppets - 95 (one place lower, 17 fewer)
5. Aardvark Abacus - 92 (same place, 15 fewer)
6. Claymore Athletic FC - 90 (two places higher, three fewer)
=7. Trusted By Millions - 88 (three places lower, 10 fewer)
=7. The Cow-Faced Juniors - 88 (same place, 12 fewer)
9. San Dimas High School - 82 (same place, 24 more)
10. Athletico Phoenix - 69 (one place higher, four fewer)
11. The Dead Parrots - 68 (one place lower, seven more)
12. Final Fantasy XI - 62 (three places higher, 10 fewer)
13. Bassett Allsorts - 59 (one place higher, six more)
14. Mega Buck Bandits - 58 (one place lower, eight fewer)
15. York's Returning Glory - 55 (three places lower, 15 more)
16. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum - 52 (same place, 27 fewer)

What can we glean from the above? The top two were clearly head and shoulders above the rest. As last year there was hardly anything between third and eighth with Trusted the losers on this scale. San Dimas and York's were the big improvers on last year's form while the Muppets, Aardvarks and particularly Nil Satis lost ground.

*That's if they're correct of course. I'm not checking!

Co-ord Round-up Part Four - 1st-4th

1st Fred West Landscape Gardening XI (up five places on last season)
A first title for our now South African-based team. Fred has had the squad to win trophies for years and it's been a mystery he hasn't done so before. It took another £100m+ of talent (Kolarov, Silva, van der Vaart etc.), on top of the already useful Berbatov, Drogba, Nani, Vidic, Evra etc, brought in this season to get the job done. Fred looked like he was going to steam through the season breaking all sorts of records but he dramatically faded in the last couple of months. How much of that was down to the WSFFL record signing of Fernando Torres confusing the issue remains to be seen. Is this the beginning of a Fred dynasty or will it prove a one-off?
Star Player: Dimitar Berbatov (18 goals)

2nd You Know Your Boston Rock FC (down one)
Another Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy in the cabinet but the fact that's the only silverware this season may be a slight disappointment at the Whitby Grove Enormodome. That's not a criticism, just an observation on the high standards this squad has set. Sheriff's title failure ultimately can be put down to two defeats to Fred but the likes of Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Andy Carroll missing large parts of the season won't have helped. If they're fit next season it doesn't take a leap of the imagination to see Boston Rock top of the pile again.
Star Player: Darren Bent (16 goals)

3rd Real Muppets (up one)
Kept pace with Fred during the early weeks but a run of ten points out of 30 through late autumn left Ryan's team too much to do. After Florent Malouda's early season form ebbed away Carlos Tevez appeared to be ploughing a lone furrow at times until Danny Sturridge made his WSFFL mark towards the end of the season. Thomas Vermaelen was a big miss at the back but Ryan needs more goals from his midfield and, if the unsettled Tevez leaves the club, his back-up strikers if he's to get back among the honours.
Star Player: Carlos Tevez (19 goals)

4th Trusted By Millions (down one)
Is Beef now the new Fred? A talented squad but Trusted have won only one PCMT in the last seven seasons. Trusted were hampered by injuries to stalwarts Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard while Fernando Torres forgot where the goal was and was sold for £50m. Part of that was re-invested inEdin Dzeko but the German is yet to show signs of repaying his £20m fee. This squad has a good mix of youngsters and veterans but perhaps is a talisman short of really making an impression.
Star Player: Robert Huth (five goals, seven cleans)
