Charity Shield quarter-final results

Dean's hope of a repeat win lives on.

Final Fantasy XI 1 v 2 The Dead Parrots

Real Muppets 1 v 3 Mega Buck Bandits
Cheese Makers
 0 v 1 Trusted By Millions
YTFIB 1 v 7 Claymore Athletic FC

The holders of this competition are still going too. The Dead Parrots beat Final Fantasy 2-1 with goals from Rickie Lambert and Mathieu Debuchy giving Dean the lead and Ceri only managing to find an Andrew Taylor clean in reply. There was better news for the other Okus team though with Mega Bucks beating the high-flying Muppets. Dave broke through early with the returning Steven Fletcher on five minutes but Daniel Sturridge's customary goal, a delightful chip, put the game back in the balance with 13 left. Russell Martin and Guy Demel provided the winning cleans for the Bandits.

Trusted and Claymore are left as the two teams that could be the first to have claimed all four WSFFL Trophies. Trusted needed a late Javier Hernandez header to beat Cheese Makers but Clive had it a little easier. YTFIB were actually ahead in this one, a clearance flying on off Peter Crouch on four minutes, but it only took four more for Clive to level through a Tim Howard saved penalty. Marko Arnautovic fired in a free-kick just before the break too put Clive ahead and then it was one-way traffic. Sergio Aguero and Olivier Giroud added goals, Howard, Kevin Theophile-Catherine and Bacary Sagna notched cleans.

FCK2 1 v 5 The Fabulous Artisans

Let's start with the holders. The CFJs made a sticky start to the season but are hitting their stride now. Chris' team knocked out the league-leading Aardvarks thanks to a superb Luis Suarez hat-trick. The Uruguayan is looking in great form after his suspension and the rest of the league are probably hoping he bites someone else. Last year's beaten finalists, San Dimas, are through to the last four too. The prolific Romelu Lukaku scoring the only goal of the game against Nil Satis from the edge of the area on 68 minutes.

Athletico Phoenix might be waking from their slumbers after seeing off Fred's challenge 5-2. Andre Schurrle poked Fred ahead just after the half-hour but Robin van Persie struck ten minutes later to level. A James Morrison penalty had Brian ahead on 66 minutes but this time the Gardeners levelled through Fernando Torres capitalising on a defensive mix-up in the last minute. It wasn't enough to earn Fred a replay though as the Phoenix had three cleans to put a gloss on the scoreline. The winners from two years ago, The Fabulous Artisans, face a replay against FCK2 after a tight goalless draw at the Goddard Stadium.

There was a bizarre start to the replay with 'keeper Asmir Begovic belting a clearance 90-odd yards into the FCK2 net after 13 seconds. Alvaro Negredo doubled the lead before the break from close range but Steven Caulker's header pulled one back for Kevin with half an hour left. Loic Remy's been one of the Artisans start this season and he swept in off a post in the last minute to give Ben some breathing space. That broke Kevin's resistance and two clean sheets followed for the Artisans to make it 5-1.

A Muppets win over the Aardvarks has brought the league closer together with seven points covering the top 13. And what a goal it was that set Ryan on the way. If you haven't seen Pajtim Kasami's volley yet be sure to look it up on the youtube. You won't be disappointed. Danny Sturridge stooped to add another goal and complete the win. The win takes Ryan second and defending champions the CFJs are up to third after beating the Parrots. Mesut Ozil got two for Chris (including a rare header) and Samuel Eto'o opened his CFJs account. Jonny Howson replied for Dean but his top players from last campaign, Hart and Lambert, are not contributing right now.

The Artisans came from behind at FCK2 to go fourth. Another great goal here, this time from FCK2's Jack Wilshere, opened the scoring but Ben found cleans from Asimir Begovic and Billy Jones to get the three points. San Dimas' good start has come to a halt after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Trusted. Steven Gerrard's spot-kick opened the scoring for Beef but Jonathan de Guzman's excellent curling strike drew me level. Trusted won it late with a lucky shinner from Adam Lallana and then cleans from Michael Dawson and Robert Huth.

Final Fantasy have faltered a little too. Ceri's team fell 1-0 to the Phoenix. Robin van Persie with the only goal that relieves a bit of the pressure that Brian must have been feeling after his poor start. Claymore will also be relieved after a win at Mega Bucks. Sergio Aguero had Clive two ahead but he must have been sweating when Ricardo Vaz Te's overhead reduced the deficit. A Steven Fletcher own goal clinched the win for Clive and means he won't be bemoaning his luck this week!

Nil Satis seem a different proposition this season and fired in a big win against YTFIB. Andros Townsend, this week's Adnan Januzaj, scored with a cross for Paul but set-piece goals at the start of the second half from Phillippe Senderos and Dimitar Berbatov had Julian ahead. Paul's remaining goals came in a 25-minute spell and were scored by his remaining midfielders, Steven Pienaar, Oscar and Aaron Ramsey. If you want a big win though we have to go to new Cromwell Street. Fred even came back from two goals down after the Cheese Makers had made a great start through Kevin Mirallas and a brilliant Yohan Cabaye long-ranger. I don't know what Fred said at half-time but it worked. Two goals from Eden Hazard, a Wilfried Bony penalty and one from David Silva were followed by three cleans for the biggest win of the season so far.

Charity Shield quarter-final draw

Final Fantasy XI v The Dead Parrots

Real Muppets v Mega Buck Bandits
Cheese Makers
 v Trusted By Millions
YTFIB v Claymore Athletic FC

Claymore, Trusted and the Muppets are looking to become the first team to have won all four WSFFL trophies. Some tough opposition stands in their way while holders the Parrots are struggling in the league so will find Final Fantasy no pushover.

Games to be played w/c 26 October.

Paul Cartmell Memorial Trophy quarter-final draw

It couldn't get much tougher for the holders.

Aardvark Abacus v The Cow-Faced Juniors
Fred West Landscape Gardening XI v Athletico Phoenix

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum v San Dimas High School

The Fabulous Artisans v FCK2

League leaders the Aardvarks host holders the CFJs in the pick of the quarter-final ties. The FCK2 franchise have lot to live up to in this competition as their predecessors won this trophy six times in eight years. Victory at the Artisans could open the draw up for Kevin's team to begin to emulate that run.

Games to be played w/c 26 October.

Twenty per cent of the way through the season and Ady's Aardvarks have opened a four point lead over last week's opponents San Dimas. Level at half-time, goals from former San Dimas defender Winston Reid and Anthony Pilkington gave Ady enough a cushion to survive my clean sheet fightback. The Muppets are up to third after adding to Fred's woes. An early goal from Daniel Sturridge set the tone and then Ravel Morrison skipped through the Gardeners defence to double the lead with 11 minutes left. Eden Hazard pulled one back for the basement team but a Mamadou Sakho clean finished the match in Ryan's favour.

Ceri's great start came screeching to a halt with a 3-1 loss to the improving Artisans. Alvaro Negredo opened the scoring for Ben and a Loic Remy brace, catch his second if you haven't seen it - great finish, had this one wrapped up by half-time. The CFJs have been out of sorts but a 5-1 win over Claymore will have Chris thinking of back-to-back titles. 1-1 at the break, Luis Suarez for the CFJs equalised by Sergio Aguero, this game turned in a few second half seconds. Aguero missed a penalty and seconds later the CFJs were in front when a shot struck a post and flew in off the back of Tim Howard. Chris was also reminded why he bought Willian when he opened his account with a stunning strike from the corner of the box late on.

The Cheese are on a roll (Cheese! On a roll!) after coming from behind to beat FCK2. Kevin looked to have had this in the bag with second-half goals from Jack Wilshere (a rare one) and a calm finish from Darren Bent. Brede Hangeland, Brad Guzan and Jose Fonte then got the cleans from Matthew to turn the game on its head. If the Cheese Makers could add some goals they could get very dangerous this season. Mega Bucks beat the Artisans last week and took down the Phoenix this. All the action came in the second half in this one. Ricardo Vaz Te struck with 18 minutes left and then added cleans from Artur Boruc, Curtis Davies and Guy Demel to complete a 4-0 win.

Trusted still haven't got into gear and had to settle for a point at YTFIB. Steven Gerrard's 38th minute spot-kick was equalised by a Phillipe Senderos clean from Julian's team. If Ady has daylight at the top then there is daylight at the bottom too. The Dead Parrots are adrift with Fred after a home defeat to Nil Satis. An early goal from Oscar was added to by a Nathaniel Clyne clean to spring Paul to 12th.
