A third of the season left and it’s still tight at the top. The Aardvarks continued their dominant run with victory against the Muppets. Ollie Watkins tapped in early on to give Ady the lead but Phil Foden’s equaliser meant the game was all square at 90 minutes. It didn’t finish that way. Lewis Dunk’s well-placed header put Ady back in front three minutes into stoppage time and Levi Colwill’s clean finished it at 3-1. Claymore stay three points behind in second after a 3-0 victory over Markian. Clive’s main strikers are both injured so he went with a defensive-minded line-up. It paid off with cleans from John Stones, Craig Dawson and Manuel Akanji.

Are the Artisans coming through their bad spell? Ben’s team beat Trusted 4-2 to stay to stay third. Jarrod Bowen’s hat-trick gave the Artisans a 3-0 lead. An Emerson screamer brought it back to 3-1 but an early Conor Bradley clean restored the advantage before Jean-Philippe Mateta could reply from the spot. The Wateringhole had a bit of a scare against YTFIB but came through 4-2. Bukayo Saka drilled into the far corner on 65 minutes to give Kiran the lead but Chris Richards levelled soon after with a stooping header. Alex Iwobi put Julian ahead on the break seven minutes into injury time. Kiran could count on cleans from Maio Gusto, Nelson Semedo and Ruben Dias to deliver him the points.

SGU came from a goal down to beat San Dimas 2-1 and stay in touch with the leaders. Jordan Ayew slid in with half an hour left to equalise a Kai Havertz strike and it was Harry Maguire who slammed in the winner with a minute to go. The CFJs lost ground though after being held 2-2 by Fred. After Pablo Sarabia’s opener for the Cows Fred turned it round with goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Jakob Kiwior. It needed a Max Kilman clean to give Chris and Co. a share of the spoils.

There were two more 2-2s this week. Two Douglas Luis goals had Cheese Makers 2-1 up against Mega Bucks before Lucas Digne’s clean meant Dave left Le Stade with a point. It was also 2-2 between the two bottom clubs. An unlucky Sven Botman own goal and Leon Bailey’s follow-up had Paul W two up on the hour but Nil Satis showed some resilience and levelled through Jarrad Branthwaite’s goal and a Jose Sa clean.

FA Cup Quarter Final Results

Aardvark Abacus 4 v 1 Trusted By Millions
Markian United 2 v 0 Wheel Madrid
Real Muppets 1 v 0 Nil Satis Nisi Optimum
San Dimas High School 3 v 2 Claymore Athletic FC

The last time a team did the league and FA Cup double was 2016/17 when Fred completed the treble. Before that, Clive did the double in 2011/12. Ady very much has it in his sights this season.

The Aardvarks progressed to the semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Trusted. After a 4-4 draw in the league last week, Ady kept Beef's team much quieter. Ollie Watkins moved to 12 for the season with a brace and though Leandro Trossard pulled one back on 66 minutes Ben White’s early clean restored the advantage and Lewis Dunk added a clean of his own. Markian are a step nearer winning their first trophy after seeing off Wheel Madrid 2-0. Darwin Nunez is in double figures for the season after his 35th minute chipped opener. In a tight game it was Rodri’s deflected shot with seven minutes left that settled it.

Claymore’s double dreams went down 3-2 at San Dimas. This was despite Rasmus Hojlund netting twice in the first seven minutes. My team worked their way back into the game after the break. Rodrigo Muniz nipped in at the near post to pull one back, a solo effort from Kai Havertz levelled the game and Victor Lindelof’s second half clean was the winner. The Muppets made their third semi-final in four seasons after edging Nil Satis 1-0. Both Erling Haaland and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were misfiring for their respective managers and it took a Calvin Bassey clean from the bench to decide the tie.

The league’s two red-hot teams delivered a fantastic 4-4 draw. Ady started the better with Cameron Archer’s solo goal and Diogo Jota header putting him two up on 31 minutes. Trusted hit back and then some. James McAtee’s penalty, Dara O’Shea’s header and a Leandro Trossard curler put Beef ahead at the half time. Ruben Diaz made it 4-2 seven minutes after the break but the Aardvarks weren’t done. Pape Sarr pulled it back to 4-3 just after the hour and Ben White’s early clean was the equaliser. It leaves Ady three points ahead of Claymore who are now the nearest pursuers. Clive’s team beat Cheese Makers 2-1. Rasmus Hojlund was left unmarked to put Claymore ahead after 17 minutes, Douglas Luiz hooked into the roof of the net to level midway through the second half only for the returning John Stones to get the winning clean.

The Artisans have won only three of their last eight but are still only four points behind. Ben’s team went down 2-0 to San Dimas. Anthony Elanga put my team ahead on the break after 26 minutes, Marcos Senesi turned and fired in five minutes after the interval to complete the scoring. The Wateringhole Society lead three teams just six points off the top. Kiran’s team boosted their goal difference with a 7-0 win at Wheel Madrid. Bukayo Saka with a brace and William Saliba, a goal and a clean, both move into double figures for the season. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ivan Toney and Ruben Dias were also on target.

SGU are fifth after a 2-0 win over Nil Satis. Pascal Gross opened the scoring with a 17th minute penalty, Enzo Fernandez wrapped it up in second half injury time. The CFJs are the third of our 35-pointers. Chris and Co. turned it round late at Markian. Darwin Nunez had put Ian 2-1 up with 11 minutes to go only for Brennan Johnson to smash in at the far post deep in injury time and Sergio Reguilon to get the winning clean.

Both of the Muppets regular scorers were on target in a come-from-behind 3-1 win over YTFIB. Erland Haaland scored twice to extend his lead in the Golden Boot race (he’s on 17), Scott McTominay was also on target and is just ten behind the Norwegian!. After a dreadful run Mega Bucks turned in their best performance of the season to beat Fred 5-0. Bruno Guimaraes got his first goals of the season, Carlton Morris scored a penalty and Declan Rice hit a 30-yard screamer before Nathan Ake rubbed it in with a clean sheet.
