Combined League Table 2001-2021

Twenty years. Good grief.

Here's the table made up of all the tables since we went to a 16-team league. For what it's worth.

2020/21 Awards - English Team of the Season

(Same rules as before but English players only.)

GK: Nick Pope (YTFIB)

DEF: Aaron Cresswell (Claymore Athletic FC), Kyle Walker (The Fabulous Artisans), Tyrone Mings (Cheese Makers), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Trusted By Millions)

MID: Harvey Barnes (The Wateringhole Society), Phil Foden (Real Muppets), Raheem Sterling (Muppets), Michail Antonio (Mega Buck Bandits)

ATT: Harry Kane (Markian United), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Nil Satis Nisi Optimum)

Subs: Jordan Pickford (Aardvark Abacus); Ben Chilwell (Stanley Athletic FC); James Maddison (Wheel Madrid); Jamie Vardy (Wheel Madrid)

Injuries costing the likes of Jack Grealish and Danny Ings from keeping their place.

As it's a Euros year we'll boost the numbers to make it up to a 26-man squad with....

Patrick Bamford (Artisans), Lewis Dunk (Aardvarks), Harry Maguire (Stanley), Reece James (Muppets), Ezri Konsa (Wateringhole), Matt Lowton (Mega Bucks), Ben Mee (Trusted), Callum Wilson (Wheels), Matt Targett (Cheese), James Tarkowski (Muppets), Kyle Walker-Peters (SDHS)

No representative from our champions this year.

As always a bit short of midfielders but what could Gareth Southgate do with this lot?

2020/21 Awards - £500k Team of the Season

(More of the same but with players from the bargain basement.)

GK: Emiliano Martinez (San Dimas High School)

DEF: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Trusted By Millions), Ben Chilwell (Stanley Athletic FC), Harry Maguire (Stanley Athletic FC), Reece James (Real Muppets)

MID: Harvey Barnes (The Wateringhole Society), Phil Foden (Real Muppets), Raheem Sterling (Muppets), Jack Harrison (Mega Buck Bandits)

ATT: Harry Kane (Markian United), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Nil Satis Nisi Optimum)

Subs: Lukasz Fabianski (The Fabulous Artisans); Ezri Konsa (The Wateringhole Society); James Ward-Prowse (Stanley Athletic FC); Marcus Rashford (The Wateringhole Society)

A very English feel to the selection. Should we be looking more at academy graduates?

Chilwell, Maguire, Sterling and Barnes all remain from last year's team. Kane and Alexander-Arnold were on the bench last year while Rashford drops down from the starting XI.

2020/2021 Awards - Team of the Season

(All awards are made on basis of contributions in all WSFFL competitions. Where there is a tie, contributions in league matches take precedence. Then I'll try to separate them by goals scored. Then by lower transfer fee. If you see two or more names in a position I still couldn't split them.)

How many come from your squad...

GK: Ederson (Real Muppets)

DEF: Stuart Dallas (Nil Satis Nisi Optimum), Ruben Dias (The Wateringhole Society), Joao Cancelo (San Dimas High School), Aaron Cresswell (Claymore Athletic FC)

MID: Bruno Fernandes (Fred West LG XI), Harvey Barnes (TWS), Phil Foden (Muppets), Raheem Sterling (Muppets)

ATT: Harry Kane (Markian United), Mohamed Salah (FW LG XI)

Subs: Emiliano Martinez (SDHS) ; Kyle Walker (The Fabulous Artisans); Gareth Bale (The Cow-Faced Juniors); Son Heung-Min (Aardvark Abacus)

A big shake-up from last year's team - only Raheem Sterling keeps his place in the starting line-up, while Kyle Walker drops to the bench.

Sterling, Kane and Walker are all making their fourth appearance in this selection, Bale and Salah make their third.

2020/2021 Awards - Players of the Season

(Awards are made on basis of contributions, 'counters', in all WSFFL competitions. Where there is a tie, contributions in league matches take precedence.)

Player of the Season, Attacker of the Season, 500k Player of the Season and Golden Boot:
Harry Kane (Markian United) - 22 goals

Back on top of the pile after a two season absence. Interesting times ahead for Kane (and his manager) but no reason why he can't win all or some of these awards a few more times in his WSFFL career. His 22 goal total is the lowest to win Player of the Season since 2010/11.

Golden Gloves:
Ederson (Real Muppets) - 18 cleans, one saved penalty

A third win in this category for the Muppets custodian. He continues to the benchmark for his position.

Defender of the Season and Signing of the Season:
Stuart Dallas (Nil Satis Nisi Optimum) - seven goals, 11 cleans

Did anybody see this coming? Solid at the back and a threat up front he's the sort of player we all want. And Paul S has got him!

Midfielder of the Season:
Bruno Fernandes (Fred West LG XI) - 16 goals

Okay a lot of his goals were penalties but he's a great player and we'd all happily have him in our line-ups.

Young Player of the Season:
Ruben Dias (The Wateringhole Society) - one goal, 16 cleans

Just pipped for the defensive and signing awards, Dias thoroughly deserved to get a mention in one of those categories. The Portuguese is a solid foundation for Kiran's team
