The Artisans winning run is halted at six after going down 3-2 to the CFJs. Chris and Co. took an early lead but Ben seemed set for three points after Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson had put him in front with a quarter of an hour left. Mohammed Kudus levelled from the edge of the area on 89 minutes and Gabriel got the clean sheet winner for the Cows. Ben’s one consolation was that none of the top half sides won this week. The Aardvarks also went down 3-2, at home to Claymore. Matias Jensen put Clive ahead on 26 minutes but Micky van de Ven pulled Ady level seven minutes after the break. Abdoulaye Doucoure smashed in on the hour to restore Clive’s lead and an Anton Robinson own goal made it 3-1 eight minutes later. Van de Ven’s clean was only a consolation and Ady stays three points behind the leaders. Claymore are fourth, on counters, behind...

…Markian who jumped from tenth to third with a 4-2 win at YTFIB. Julian’s good start looked set to continue when Hwang Hee-Chan and Bobby Decordova-Reid scored within a minute of each other to put him two up. Early cleans from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Destiny Udogie put Ian level and two more cleans, from Pedro Porro and Ashley Young, delivered the win. A late, late  Muppets comeback against Trusted gave Ryan the point to see him in fifth. Three goals in 12 minutes saw Beef’s team in total control. Cole Palmer from the spot and then Alexander Isak found himself unmarked twice to finish from close range. With the Muppets 3-0 down in injury time, up stepped Scott McTominay who scored twice and then James Tarkowski found the equalising clean.

The Wateringhole also have 11 points after a 1-1 draw with San Dimas. Simon Adingra capitalised on an early San Dimas error to give the Society a lead on 20 minutes but a Tyrick Mitchell clean delivered me a point. Cheese Makers also got a 1-1 draw in a result that sees Nil Satis pick up their first point this season. James Garner fired Paul S ahead on eight minutes, Matthew’s equaliser was an early Rico Lewis clean. One more team on 11 points, Mega Bucks who were held 0-0 by Stanley and Gracie. Fred beat Wheel Madrid 4-1 to climb to tenth. Mohamed Salah scored twice in the last five minutes of the first half to put Fred ahead but an unlucky Wes Foderingham own goal with 14 minutes left gave Paul W some hope. That was snuffed out thank to cleans from Murillo and Cristian Romero.

Nil Satis went toe-to-toe with the Artisans and when Ansu Fati’s first WSFFL goal made it 2-2 five minutes after half-time it must have had the leaders worried. For a bit at least until Kurt Zouma and Jamal Lascelles got the clean sheets to give Ben a 4-2 win and maintain his 100% record and Paul’s 0% record. The Aardvarks are still three points behind and had an easier time of it, winning 6-1 at San Dimas. Ollie Watkins led the way with a hat-trick, Son Heung-Min and Ben White were also on target as was Pervis Estupinan who capped off a disappointing performance with an own goal. All rather overshadowing Kai Havertz’s first goal for me.

There’s a five point gap to third now and the Muppets top four teams on that mark following a 3-1 win at Wheel Madrid. Armando Broja put Ryan in front on 19 minutes then late goals from Jacob Ramsey and Joel Matip lashing into his own net in injury time made the points safe. The Wateringhole are fourth after a 4-2 reverse at SGU. This was 2-2 at the break (Saka and Gakpo for Kiran, a Dias own goal and a stunning Joachim Andersen strike for Aaron) and was settled by SGU cleans from Andersen and Kieran Trippier.

Cheese Makers swept Fred West aside 4-0 to go fifth. Julian Alvarez curled in a free-kick on 58 minutes, Douglas Luis placed a shot from the edge of the area home in injury time and David Raya Martin and Nayef Aguerd added cleans. Fred has lost as many games this season as he did in the whole of last season. Mega Bucks’ good start was derailed by Markian 3-1. Carlton Morris had Dave in front just after the half hour, an early Alex Zinchenko clean levelled it and two more cleans, from Sam Johnstone and Fabian Schar, get Ian going in the right direction again.

Trusted and YTFIB finished 1-1. Hwang Hee-Chan is in the form of his life and put Julian ahead from six yards on 66 minutes. Beef earned his point with an Emerson Palmeri clean. Slight surprise result of the week was the CFJs beating Claymore 3-1. First half goals from Miguel Almiron and Tomas Soucek had the Cows in command but a smart Nicolas Dominguez header had Clive back in contention before Vladimir Coufal’s clean confirmed the CFJs second win of the season.
