We’re left with three unbeaten teams after the two 100% records went last weekend. Draws for the Wateringhole (1-1 at Cheese Makers) and the CFJs (3-3 with the Muppets after being 3-0 down to an Erling Haaland hat-trick with 10 minutes left) meant that Trusted could take over at the top with a big enough win. Will 8-0 over Mega Bucks do? It will. Only 2-0 at the break, Chris Mepham scored an own goal straight after half-time and then the world fell in on Dave’s team.

Three teams are a point behind. The Artisans after a 5-0 win over bottom-dwelling San Dimas (braces for Raheem Sterling and Roberto Firmino), Fred thanks to three clean sheets in a 5-2 win at Markian, and Stanley and Gracie United with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Pascal Gross in a 2-0 win over Wheel Madrid.

The Aardvarks and Claymore drew 1-1 to leave those teams in eighth and ninth while YTFIB’s 2-1 win over Nil Satis courtesy of a late Allan Saint-Maximin stunner and a Joseph Gomez clean gave Julian his first points of the season.

Two games in and only two teams left with 100% records. Reigning champions The Wateringhole Society are the first of those and top of the league after a 4-1 win over the previously imperious-looking Muppets. 0-0 at the break, two goals in two minutes put Kiran in control. Marcus Rashford (just) beat the offside trap to open the scoring before a stunning William Saliba finish doubled the lead. Erling Haaland volleyed high into the net seven minutes later to get Ryan back in it but a close-in finish from Ivan Toney and a Nelson Semedo clean made it an emphatic win for TWS. The CFJs are our other two-from-two team, coming from behind to beat YTFIB 4-2. Julian’s team flew out of the blocks scoring twice in the opening five minutes. Bobby Decordova-Reid scrambled in and then Ilkay Gundogan was left with space to convert from seven yards. A stooping Miguel Almiron pulled one back before the half hour and Brennan Johnson found an equaliser on 81 minutes. The Cows clinched it with cleans from Ben Davies and Gabriel, YTFIB are the only team without a point.

Trusted are the other unbeaten team after adding a win over Stanley and Gracie United to their first week draw. A brilliant Kieran Trippier free-kick on 54 minutes gave Aaron the lead but that was cancelled out on 66 minutes when Leandro Trossard burst through to finish. Adam Webster and Takehiro Tomiyasu clean sheets gave Beef the points. Mega Bucks are fourth after seeing off Nil Satis 4-1. Wilfried Zaha scored twice, first running half the pitch before converting and also putting away the rebound from his own saved penalty. Nathan Ake bagged a clean in between those and Jack Harrison stretched to make it 4-0 with 20 minutes left. Demarai Gray’s late goal just a consolation for Paul.

The Artisans were also 4-1 winners with Claymore their victims. Ben raced into a three goal lead. Martin Odegaard scoring twice and Alexis Mac Allister scoring a spot kick all inside the first 22 minutes. Aleksander Mitrovic headed in on 90 minutes to reduce the deficit for Clive but the Artisans rounded out the win with Emerson Royal’s clean. Markian beat Wheel Madrid 2-1 to join that team and seven others on three points. Brendan Aaronson latched on to a huge keeper blunder to put Ian ahead just after the hour, Wheels was back on terms with James Maddison’s free-kick nine minutes later but Harry Kane was the Markian game-winner, heading in from practically under the bar.

The Aardvarks and Fred are also on the three point mark after Ady’s team picked up a 2-1 win at the Gardeners. Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for Ady after just five minutes, Mohamed Salah headed Fred level with nine minutes left but Lewis Dunk’s clean proved the winner. San Dimas and Cheese Makers played out a 1-1 draw. A composed Jadon Sancho finish gave me a lead on 16 minutes and Matthew left it late to equalise through an Eric Dier clean. The result gets both teams off the mark points-wise.
