The CFJs continue to go well and got the better of Markian this week 2-1. Harry Kane’s penalty just before the hour put Ian ahead but the Cows turned it round with cleans from Max Kilman and Gabriel (who had a red card overturned just before the end.) It was a come-from-behind win from Fred against Claymore to put the Gardeners second in the table. Aleksandr Mitrovic put Clive ahead from the spot on 52 minutes, four minutes after Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal controversially disallowed. Claymore couldn’t build on the lead and Mohamed Salah levelled when latching onto a long pass out of defence. Lisandro Martinez completed the comeback win for Fred with a clean.

The Artisans climb to third after dispatching Mega Bucks 4-0. Mason Mount scored twice, the first after capitalising on a misplaced defensive header, the second with an excellent free-kick and cleans from Marc Guehi and Diogo Dalot capped off the win. The Wateringhole lost ground after being held 3-3 by Stanley and Gracie. Aaron took two minutes to open the scoring with Dominic Solanke finishing a great team move but SGU found themselves behind before the break. A smart finish by Ivan Toney levelled the game and Bukayo Saka smashed high into the net from a tight angle. Toney added a penalty to extend Kiran’s lead with 25 minutes left but Aaron grabbed a point with cleans from Ben Chilwell and Kieran Tripper.

Trusted join the Wateringhole on 14 points after Beef’s team kept the Muppets quiet. After 15 goals in two weeks Ryan’s team were shut out and Beef took the points through Takehiro Tomiyasu’s clean. Wheel Madrid made ground on the top half after beating San Dimas 1-0. Thiago Silva’s clean was the difference maker for Wheels.

Nil Satis picked up their second win after beating the Aardvarks 2-1. Declan Rice curled Ady’s team in front after 64 minutes only for a Jose Sa saved penalty to square the match a quarter of an hour later. Sven Botman’s clean gave Paul the points. Cheese Makers and YTFIB went into their game with one win between them and Matthew's team remain winless after a Joe Gomez clean decided the match in Julian's favour.

The CFJs still lead the way after a dominant 5-0 win over the Aardvarks. Odsonne Edouard headed the Cows in front on 24 minutes then Ady’s team held out until the last 15 when Eberechi Eze fired in from the edge the box and Miguel Almiron latched on to a defensive mistake to make it 3-0. Kepa and Ben Davies added the cleans to make it five. There’s a new team in second following Fred’s 4-0 win at Trusted. Gabriel Martinelli took just a minute to open the scoring and though there were no more goals Fred could count on cleans from Timothy Castagne, Cristian Romero and Cesar Azpilicueta. Worse news for Beef is Luis Diaz being ruled out until December.

Kiran must have torn into his Wateringhole players at half-time this week after they overturned a three-goal deficit to Markian to win 6-3. Ian raced ahead with goals from Ashley Young, Harry Kane and Darwin Nunez but there were signs of life a minute before the break when Bukayoko Saka pulled one back. The scores were level ten minutes after half-time thanks to Christian Pulisic and an Ivan Toney penalty. The Society took the lead 14 minutes from time with a Saka spot-kick and a shellshocked Markian conceded cleans to Marc Cucurella and Ruben Dias.The Artisans also overturned a deficit to beat Nil Satis 2-1. Alex Iwobi doesn’t get many but he struck an excellent shot from outside the penalty area to give Paul S an early lead. Jarrod Bowen levelled from the spot on the half hour and Roberto Firmino got what proved to be the winner to send Ben fourth. In some sort of witchcraft Nil Satis went up two places after this defeat.

The Muppets are fifth after a record victory, 8-0 over YTFIB. It’s a record defeat for Julian too. Erling Haaland only got one of them as well. Pascal Struijk and Patson Daka had scored within ten minutes, Phil Foden added one before the break and Ryan Christie was also on target. Emerson, Kalidou Coulibaly and Reece James added the cleans to rub it in. Claymore are seventh after beating Wheels 3-1. Late call-up Cristiano Ronaldo gave Clive the lead just before the break but a great lob from Gianluca Scamacca brought Wheels level. The Italian was denied on another couple of occasions which proved crucial as Claymore took the points with cleans from Manuel Akanji and Trevoh Chalobah.

Mega Bucks hold the last place in the top half following a 4-1 win over Cheese Makers. Antony opened the scoring and Bruno Guimaraes added a brace before Philip Billing smashed home to cut the lead to 3-1. Michail Antonio finished the game for Dave in injury time although there was a hint of handball about it. San Dimas beat Stanley and Gracie 3-2 to close to a point on those opponents. Aaron led twice in this one. Andreas Pereira smashed home from an acute angle on five minutes and Kai Havertz looped a header in just before the interval. In between those times Joao Cancelo scored for me and the same player bagged an early clean to level the game. Tyrick Mitchell’s 18-minute cameo clean gave me the points.

The Nil Satis run as holders came to an end against Markian. Thomas Partey picked out the top corner with a first time shot on 20 minutes and Harry Kane added a penalty on the half hour. Paul’s team reduced the deficit with a Matt Doherty clean but Ian’s team finished 2-1 winners. The two unbeaten teams this season, the CFJs and Trusted met and now we have one unbeaten team, Trusted, after a 5-2 win. Leandro Trossard was Beef’s star with a hat-trick and there were also goals from Gabriel Jesus and Conor Coady. That rendered Miguel Almiron’s brace for the Cows unimportant even though he scored an unbelievable van Bastenesque volley to bring the score back to 2-1 before the break.

Not content with having Erling Haaland score another hat-trick the Muppets also got one from Phil Foden in a 7-1 win over Cheese Makers. Patson Daka also ‘got in on the act’ for Ryan’s team, Matthew’s last word, a very quiet word, was a clean from Aaron Hickey. YTFIB are in the semi-finals for the first time since 2007/8 after edging the Aardvarks 1-0 with a late Bobby DeCordova-Reid header.

Charity Shield

Mega Bucks, the holders, bowed out with a 3-2 defeat at the Artisans. Ben’s team raced into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Roberto Firmino and a Jarrod Bowen near-post strike before Dave replied through Granit Xhaka and a Chris Mepham clean. Claymore haven’t won this but are into the last four after beating the Wateringhole Society 2-1. A brilliant Harvey Barnes strike put Kiran ahead on 27 minutes but Clive turned it round with cleans from Thilo Kehrer and Aaron Cresswell.

Wheel Madrid produced their best game for a while and saw off Fred 4-0. Two from James Maddison, his second a great free-kick, either side of Gianluca Scamacca’s first WSFFL goal (a smart volley from the edge of the box) saw the Wheelmen three up at the break and Ilian Meslier’s clean completed the win. One game left to sort out after Stanley and Gracie Utd drew with San Dimas 1-1. Joe Aribo’s low shot put me in front just after the break but Ben Mee’s clean for SGU mean we go to a replay.

In the replay, San Dimas sneaked through with a couple of cheap clean sheets after trailing twice to an unlucky SGU.
