YTFIB 1 v 4 Stanley Athletic FC
The maths say we’re down to four title contenders. The maths also say that Stanley are back at the top.
Aaron’s team recovered from their week 27 trouncing to end YTFIB’s great run with a 4-1 win. All the action came late on - Martial giving Stanley the lead with 12 minutes left, David Brooks replying ten minutes later to make it 1-1 only for Chris Wood to score a penalty six minutes into injury time. Lindelof and Maguire followed up with cleans. Claymore take over second spot after edging San Dimas 2-1. David Silva gave my team the perfect start with a great free-kick on six minutes but Olivier Giroud nodded Clive level in first half injury time. Claymore’s winner was a Jonny Evans clean.
Trusted were held 2-2 by Cheese Makers, a result that dropped Beef to third. Gabriel Jesus skipped through Matthew’s defence after 39 minutes to put Trusted ahead but Troy Deeney and Danny Ings had the Cheese in front halfway through the second period. It took a David De Gea clean to save a point for the former leaders. The Aardvarks are still tucked in just behind the top three after beating Mega Bucks 3-1. Dave was ahead early thanks to another Michail Antonio goal but three Aardvark goals in ten minutes through Son, Lacazette and a stunner from Rice turned the tables.
The Artisans faint chances of a title ended with a 1-1 draw with the CFJs. The in-form Tomas Soucek put the Cows ahead after ten minutes, Reiss Nelson equalised just before the break. The Muppets are still unbeaten since the resumption after a 1-0 win at Nil Aatis. Sadio Mane sliding in the only goal of the game after 20 minutes.
The Wateringhole Society ended their poor run of form with a big win at Wheel Madrid. Marcus Rashford got the opener with a cool finish just before halftime, Ezri Konsa slid in a second and then Raul Jimenez hit a stunning volley to make it three. Jamal Lewis bagged a clean into the bargain. Wheels team appear to be on the beach, or in the pub. Markian almost snatched their third win of the season but ultimately had to settle for a point against Fred. Two goals in the last half hour from Harry Kane had Ian on the verge of three points but Azpilicueta and Wan-Bissaka cleans rescued The Gardeners.
