The Fabulous Artisans 3 v 1 YTFIB

Cheese Makers beat the Aardvarks at the weekend and repeated the feat to take Matthew to just his second FA Cup semi-final. Joao Pedro sped away from the Abacus defence to dink over the keeper and Nico O’Reilly finished off an end-to-end move to get first half goals for the Cheese, Tyrone Mings and Nikola Milenkovic saw the game out with clean sheets to complete a 4-0 win. Jorgen Strand Larsen re-discovered his scoring boots* with a brace in the CFJs 3-0 win over GC TotW. Strand Larsen struck twice before the break and the ever-reliable Tomas Soucek added the third with a deft near-post finish five minutes after the interval.

An uninspiring tie between San Dimas and Wheel Madrid was settled in my team’s favour by an Emi Martinez clean. We do have a reply to sort out though. YTFIB nearly pulled off a shock over the Artisans with Antoine Semenyo’s close range lunge and Amine Adli’s header into an unguarded net putting Julian’s team two up. Ben earned a second crack at going through with cleans from El Hadji Malick Diouf (after 80 minutes) and Marc Guehi.

* Ok, he headed one in but cut me some slack here please.

Ben’s ever-changing lead is four points this week after a 2-2 draw at the CFJs. Ben needed a couple of cleans to earn a point after a Viktor Gyokeres brace for the Cows. It’s the Muppets up to second now after beating Nil Satis 4-1. Paul gave Ryan a helping hand with a Vitaliy Mykolenko own goal and Erling Haaland was back on the scoresheet for the champions with a late penalty.

The Wateringhole Society dropped a place after going down 2-0 to GC TotW. Bernd Leno’s late own goal and a clean for Lisandro Martinez see Ollie climb further away from the bottom. SGU are up into fourth after beating Claymore 3-1. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai (wow!) and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the space of a minute took the game away from Clive.

Cheese Makers are in the sort of form that saw them in the title race for a long time last season. They came from 2-1 down to beat the Aardvarks 4-2 with Tolu Arokodare getting his first WSFFL goal. San Dimas and Mega Bucks played out a 2-2 draw. Tyrick Mitchell’s clean earning me a point after I’d trailed to late goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Dango Ouattara.

A Cole Palmer hat-trick helped Trusted to a 4-0 win over YTFIB. It’s Palmer’s third WSFFL hat-trick and his second against Julian’s team. Markian’s 3-0 win over Wheel Madrid sends Ian back up to 11th and keeps Wheels rooted at the foot of the table.

A huge win for the Muppets over the league-leading Artisans to keep Ryan’s team in with a chance of following up last year’s title success. Ben’s team led twice, through the ever-reliable Jarrod Bowen and improving Florian Wirtz but Ryan hit back with excellent strikes from Habib Diarra and Chemsdine Talbi. Jurrien Timber’s clean sheet made it 3-2 to the Muppets and closes the gap to the top to six points. In between those teams are the Wateringhole Society who had a comfortable 4-0 win over Wheel Madrid Hugo Ekitike struck twice in three minutes just before half time. Piero Hincapie and William Saliba bagged clean sheets.

The Aardvarks stayed fourth with a 1-0 win over Nil Satis, Martin Zubimendi heading home after 27 minutes. SGU round out the top five that have stayed the same for six weeks now. Despite falling behind to an early Morgan Gibbs-White goal Aaron’s team beat GC TotW 4-2. Dominic Solanke scored twice, his second a flukey/brilliant ’scorpion kick’, to put SGU in front and Enzo Fernandez made it 3-1. Ibrahima Konate poked in to pull one back for Ollie but Trai Hume’s clean settled it.

Claymore and the CFJs in 6th and 7th lost to the teams in 8th and 9th. San Dimas beat Claymore 2-1. Crysencio Summerville and Matheus Cunha swapped goals before Marcos Senesi’s clean clinched it for me. It was a 4-1 win for Cheese Makers over the Cows. Matthew’s team have settled into a 3-4-3 formation and all three Cheese attackers scored this week - Anthony Gordon in the first half, Joao Pedro and Raul Jimenez in the second. Casemiro was Matthew’s other scorer, Viktor Gyokeres got the CFJs’ goal.

Trusted are finally moving in the right direction and beat Mega Bucks 4-1. A fabulous hit from Eli Junior Kroupi was soon followed by Noni Madueke curling a corner straight in. Dango Ouattara replied for Dave before the break and it stayed 2-1 until the final five minutes when Gabriel Jesus scored and Nordi Mukiele picked up a clean for Beef. Markian ended their umpteen games (check before sending out) without a win by beating YTFIB 3-2. Ryan Cherki’s opener for Ian was equalised by Antoine Semenyo. Ismaila Sarr put Markian back in front only for Alex Scott to level in injury time but at 90+4 Benjamin Sesko turned and shot high into the net for the winner.
