Bruno Fernandes squandered an early penalty but Gabriel Martinelli shot in off the post after 20 minutes to put the Gardeners ahead but the tie turned as half-time approached.Cole Palmer shot into the corner and Gabriel Jesus headed home from close in within a minute of each other and that was the end of the scoring.
Bottom-placed Nil Satis took the Shield in 2016/17 and will get a chance to add their name again after surprising the league-leading Artisans 2-1. Ben’s team broke the deadlock after 52 minutes, a deflection falling to Jarrod Bowen to smash in from seven yards. The Artisans failed to build on this and clean sheets from Jarrad Braithwaite and Nathan Patterson saw Paul into the Final.
