The Artisans have been joined at the top by Markian after this week’s games. Ben’s team went down 2-1 to the Muppets. An excellent team goal finished by Martin Odegaard put the leaders ahead and was equalised by Phil Foden, ending another well-crafted move, to make it 1-1 at the break. James Tarkowski’s clean was the winner and gave Ryan a much-needed three points. Markian beat Cheese Makers by the same score. Matthew’s team haven’t built on their good start but must have fancied their chances when Joao Pedro glanced in a header in injury time. Fabian Schar and Ashley Young turned it round for Ian with last-gasp clean sheets.

The Aardvarks are three points behind after getting the better of the Wateringhole Society 5-3. Kiran was 2-1 up after nine minutes, Son Heung-Min scoring at both ends and Bukayo Saka also getting on the scoresheet. Levi Colwill levelled the game by half-time and it all got lively in the last ten minutes. Josh Brownhill smashed Ady in front, both teams got headed goals in the last minute (Ollie Watkins for the Aardvarks, Dejan Kulusevski for the Society) before Jordan Pickford’s clean finally got Ady the victory. Stanley and Gracie beat Trusted 4-2 to keep on the heels of the leaders. Aaron raced into a 4-0 lead thanks to a brace from Enzo Fernandez, a deflected Ben Mee effort and another from Dominic Solanke (that’s seven for the season for him.) Beef’s response of a Takehiro Tomiyasu clean and Trent Alexander-Arnold half-volley were too little, too late.

Claymore and the CFJs are both within six points of the top too. Clive’s team needed cleans from Matty Cash and Charlie Taylor to get the better of Fred 2-1 after Giovani Lo Celso had put the Gardeners ahead with a shot from just outside the area. It was a 2-0 win for the CFJs over Mega Bucks. Mohamed Kudus fired home on 13 minutes after a sweeping move and Odsonne Edouard shot in off the far post after a defensive blunder to double the lead.

YTFIB had been slipping down the table after a decent start but a 2-1 win at Nil Satis sees them going back in the right direction. Antoine Semenyo had space to finish low into the corner after ten minutes and Bobby Decordova-Reid’s header with ten minutes left doubled the lead. Paul S got one back with Jarrad Branthwaite’s clean but that was it and his team now slip to the foot of the table because Wheel Madrid and San Dimas played out a 1-1 draw. Leon Bailey cut inside to fire Paul W into the lead after 20 minutes, my equaliser came on 67 - Dwight McNeil lashing across the keeper high into the net.
