Markian United 3 v 4 Real Muppets
San Dimas would have been pleased to see Ollie Watkins missing from the Aardvarks starting selection but less pleased when his replacement, Jhon (Duran) Duran, placed left-footed across the keeper to open the scoring after 20 minutes. It was a cruise for Ady’s team from there, Ben White and Lewis Dunk adding cleans at the end.
It was a different story at The Rock where Markian looked on the brink of their first final, taking a 2-0 lead over the Muppets inside 17 minutes through Rodri and Darwin Nunez. Enter Phil Foden who scored a 25-minute hat-trick to tip the game in Ryan’s favour along with a header from Tosin to make it 4-2. Ian’s late reply from Patrick Kluivert wasn’t enough to force a replay.
The two teams have met in the final once before, when Ady’s side won 5-2 in 1998/99. This year's takes place at the end of April.
